The Watchfire Controversy

DeletedUser26965

"The best defense is a good offense" is an adage that has been applied to many fields of endeavor, including games and military combat. It is also known as the Strategic Offensive principle of war. Generally, the idea is that proactivity (a strong offensive action) instead of a passive attitude will preoccupy the opposition and ultimately hinder its ability to mount an opposing counterattack, leading to a strategic advantage.

The only problem in this with that is that you don't actually kill the opponent's units so 0 hindrance of the mounting of an opposing counterattack. Now if could could kill their units, sabotage unit production etc. then yes. Oh and the only way to do that with an attacker is with SBC and DC, ultimately anyway.

Or a bunch of pacifists in your Hood?

Some friendly competition for top tower points.
I'm in a very mellow neighborhood.

There's 5 or 6 Fellow Future Era players with me.
The rest are one era behind me, in Tomorrow Era.

One of my neighbors is testing my defenses with a variety of units one or two eras ahead of me.
His Arctic Future and Oceanic Future against my Future Era Champions.

"No effect!"

His Combat bonus is almost on par with the neighborhood average.
No slouch.

As always, I bring the proof you can easily see.

Aminaa,
from Beautiful Rugnir, is every bit of what I call a World Boss-Caliber Player.
A member of the powerful Wu Dynasty.
She earned my respect long ago, and I admire her lovely city.

She is, without a doubt, ten times the better player I am.
I honor her as I humbly post the results.

Once I get 300+ rogues and can afford to lose more on a daily basis 300% won't matter as I'll take the loss in rogues to break through.

You'd need 500% at least and by that point you've used like a quarter or fifth of your city to prevent the loss of maybe 70 goods a week and that is a high estimate esp for active players like you two.

Not worth it to me.

We all know my numbers by now, so no need to re-post.
What Dursland says has merit.
I use my Watch Fires and Ritual Flames to fill in the gaps.

18 Goods buildings.
12 Supply buildings.
My tiny Military Complex of one Champs Retreat and One Rogue Hideout provide because of my Alcatraz.
In a few days or less, I enter Arctic Future.
That will give me more expansions and then I extend my main road, to increase Goods Production.

No loss of production here due to my City Defense.
