Summer Event 2017 Feedback

DeletedUser26965

My main goal this year were Wishing Wells for my alt cities and I got the same amount as the Spring Event around 60 spread over 21 cities. I thought as the event went on I wasn't even going to get half that but it turned out just fine. There was nothing in this event for my recurring quest city that I wanted aside from an SoK or two. On my other play city I got what I wanted, Champion's Retreat and a few SoK's. Along the way spread over 23 cities I accidentally got 4 Fountain Sets and 17 Palace sets. Had some good times, had some bad times but overall okay.

Could never figure out if that stop button on the wheel is just to stop the wheel sooner or to actually try to stop it where you want. Most of the time it seemed like I could stop it at least close to where I wanted but other times it was clear it would just stop somewhere I clearly wasn't near when I pressed stop, though I suppose that could be a latency thing, meh who knows.

2 Spins left on the main city. Refresh, 5 FP, Refresh, Champs Retreat. Done in the main city, going out ona Gold is pretty sweet,

7 more spins in the startup to wrap up the Event.

Saw this wheel in one of my diamond mines, so I figured, what the hell, clean it out:

And the final results for special buildings in my main city:

Plus a Champion Retreat (already placed) and Watchfire. The Tigers' Den's a nice little added bonus. The Caravansary doesn't look too bad, but I think I'm better off just using two of the several Tribal Squares I haven't placed. That's only 4 extra squares, but one Tribal Square produces more coins and population than the Caravansary and two is double the goods when motivated. And I get them often enough in the GE that I can just replace them with higher age ones easily after I level up my city. I used one of the Kings to replace a lower age one.

22 Good buildings.

That's an @ardak kumerin Record.

Almost done refining my goods as high as they can be refined.

Then I sell all my goods buildings and place my Palace and Garden Pieces.

I started playing FoE while the "Summer Event" Casino game thing was happening, so I thought it was a full-time part of the game and got used to it. Disappointed it's gone. Will there be anything similar coming up? I thought some of the buildings delivered good bonuses, and winning certain army members helped me win battles I wouldn't have otherwise won early in the game, Bronze Age.

They have multiple events that come about 1-2 weeks apart or so. Some are big events, like the Summer Event, others are smaller and shorter.
What world do you play on?

Dunasund, Houndsmoor and Qunrir under a different user name, Chief Whatevs. Chief Puta cocked everything up, so she started over :)

Overall, I would say this was a very successful event for my cities. However, like most players, I have tons of buildings and no where to put them. The one prize missing from the wheel was large or extra large medal packages. I only saw a medium package and that was quite rare. Diamonds would have been nice as prizes as well.

The main thing that Inno have improved upon is the flexibility in quests which have made it a bit fairer for players.

But I am in no rush for another event as it would be pointless to get more buildings to keep in inventory. I can wait for the Christmas event.

Same.

I estimate I can do about 10 more events before I have to age up - really want to camp in CE for as long as possible.

So let's go, bring 'em on!
Looks like we will have two more events and the other new thing by the end of August, so wish granted?

One more day before I place my Palace and Garden Sets.
I'm finishing the last of my past-era production today.
Focusing solely on three types of goods.

Smart Materials, Semiconductors and Nano-particles.

one more day city.png

Yellow = Smart Materials = Uses Luxury Materials for Unrefined goods.
Light Turquoise = Superconductors = Uses Semiconductors for Unrefined goods.
Red = Nanoparticles = Uses Steel for Unrefined goods.

I'll be selling my goods buildings after they are done.
Then I'll have a nice, big, clear spot to rebuild Praxis.

Final Thoughts:

Many people complained about reduction in Gold and Silver prize slots from 4 to 1 and 2 respectively.

I think INNO overlooked the mishmash of set pieces, expecting players to only place them in one way instead of optimizing placement for maxmum produxtion with minimum pieces. This gave rise to a whole new science of set piece placement theory and was the coolest spinoff from an Event I have seen.

As a result of the malleability the set pieces went from being panned heavily to become chase pieces for a lot of players. I suspect that 1 Ups and RKs are going ot go way up in desirability.

Notable bug: Winning a portrait did not lock out the portrait as a prize immediately, Closing and reopening the game window locked out the prtrait..

The neighborhood medals award being scaled to Era was good.

Mamy folk complained about portraits. Again. And were still wrong. Again. Incomprehensably, some players complained about single ticket slots. INNO haters posted about how poorly they did, fanbois posted about how well they did. 5 BP Gold and 2 BP Silver prizes suck hard. BBAOD still sucks. Not surprising some folk complained that they never could find their particular favorite prize on the wheel. Alos not surprising each complainer complained they couldn't find a different building. Surprisingly few complaints about the Quest Lines. INNO seems to be n the right path here, I wonder what they'll do about Acquire a Province?

EDIT: Forgot to note, There is an interesting uptrend in complaints duirng Events about space in cities and the need for expansions. Too many good prizes glutting invetories? Spinoff of the number of Events and all the goodies from GE? Folk are havivng to make tough decisions on this, this trend of complaints on space will prolly continue up.

------------

I did well in this Event. Ridiculously stupid good luck, i never went more then 9 spins without hitting Gold, Average was much lower. At least 4 Gold on refreshes. I did not try for set pieces and still managed to get the Palace set in Main,

5 SoK in Main city in a total of 20 Spins. A bunch of other good prizess including 2 Champs Retreats, 2 RK and a 1 Up, 8 buildings beyonf my tech. Only pulled 1 really stinky prize: SoI,

Startup did amazingly well. Got 3 Rogue Hideout, Champ Retreat, 2 SoK, 3 WW, 1 Premium Production. Perfect for a city about to build Traz. Surprising how good The King is for Coin Production for an EMA city.

----------

On a scale of 1 - 5, this Event rates a 3.5, mostly due to stupid good personal luck and the set piece malleability.

Well done, INNO. Just get rid of BPs as Gold and Silver prizes, mmmk?

I'd have to agree. I don't think Inno put much thought into how people would try to collect the smaller pieces and get stuff from them instead of going for multiple sets. This was probably especially the case with the East Tower and the Fountain Gate that only needed 2 other pieces to generate fps and could be grabbed twice on a wheel. That probably makes these sets a bit unbalanced compared to say the Cherry Garden set.

1 ups and renos probably going to be on my Must Get list for the next big seasonal event, even if they do show up in the GE. SoKs are nice, but I'm still down in LMA. I'm not going to park here, and I figure a SoK farm would probably have to be upgraded at some point.

Landing on an avatar is a letdown if you're going for something nice, but it also removes the space from the wheel. Not just on the current wheel, not just for the rest of the event, but for all future summer events as well. And it's one of the common spaces removed as well, so you only land on it once EVER, instead of potentially having it chew up up to 4 spins like all the other common prizes. Amusing that some people can't see that and complain.

Single tickets are just a free spin. In fact a wheel that had some spaces cleaned out with one or two single ticket slots were more attractive to me, since the single ticket was another chance. Even better when that single ticket was right before a desirable prize, and cleaning out that slot made a bump to a spot I wanted. I had no problem cleaning out those slots either. BPs on a silver or gold prize weren't nice, but I avoided spinning those, just like something equally unattractive like a SoI. I tried to play the wheel a bit smart and avoided prizes I didn't want or need and waited until stuff I wanted was a bit easier to get. I'd say it worked for me.

What is BBOAD again?
