Summer Event 2018 Feedback

DeletedUser29623

Another nice thing about it is that you can use it for quests when needed as well as for FPs/goods. If you had enough of them, you could get rid of all the blacksmiths

DeletedUser32063

Does anyone know if you can get more than one ship? It would appear so, but I cannot seem to figure out how.....comments?

DeletedUser29623

You can get a second one by winning one of the kits on the wheel.

Specifically, any of the selection kits (royal, pirate, trader) will have a basic ship as one of the prizes you can choose from

Bring back the darn squiggly lines on the casino wheel that indicate the prize is gone and you will get the next one instead. Not because I'm dumb and don't know what prize I will get, but it is hard to see the shaded out prize. At first, I thought there were prizes taken but realized the 'ring' was just a grey/silver once a prize was actually taken and shaded out. Anyway, I want the squiggly lines back. It is easier to see at a glance what you have going on with the wheel. It is annoying having to closely analyze it every time I open it.
I want squiggly lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/QUOTE

Available prizes show a map piece(s) on the spoke next to the prize, although I don't recall seeing that explained previously. Hope this helps. (BTW..I wasn't confused about this event until I started reading this forum. LOL)

DeletedUser31592

I know. Thanks though. The squiggles were still WAY easier to see!

I've still only seen the Sunken Treasure once (which I got), but I also haven't been staring at the wheel all day long.

It's a nice little building, and if j could get more, I would.
I have 12 so far and want more. 9 of them are giving me 135 goods a day vs 60 from 2 robotics in CE for 2 tiles less.

Saw someone in my hood with 14. Thought I was doing good lol.

Update: At 14 myself now. :) Found a couple hoodies who were chasing map pieces and rode their refreshes after asking them to pause on sunkens.

Radio button o for opt-in and be involved with event

OR

Radio button o Opt-out of being involved in the event

Again ditto Orius when it comes to filler prizes on the wheel ;
VTs, unattached military not to mention the dreaded drummer boy....housing, and more coin / supply . INNO has a stash of prior event buildings that could be placed on the wheel , the confectionary, Tree of Love if you wish to go way back....Maypole, palaces , puzzle pieces etc. Just more 2c

Why would anyone need a button? Just don't do any of the quests, or take the daily doubloon and spin for the hell of it because something is better than nothing.

I would rather have a house or production building I don't want than a special building I don't want. That's because I often use regular buildings won in GE to fulfill quests. If I have a couple thousand coins remaining to be gathered in my Gather Coins quest and suddenly win a bunch of FPs that go to my bar, it's great to be able to build that free building, then sell it for the coins I need for the Gather Coins quest instead of having to abort the quest to dial up the Spend FPs quest.

I do have positive feedback- thank you for taking portraits off the wheel. (Although, I guess, if I already had that portrait, it was automatically eliminated, so on second thought, maybe NOT a good thing...)

Everyone was trying to ignore him so I suggest you do the same thing next time since he post that every other day

I had really wanted to get 5 boats. I put my city into the planner and decided what I could delete to fit in as many as possible (even deleted RaH to do it) I always buy diamonds for the summer event during the sale, not just because it's my favorite event but also I think it's important to support the company. Even if I don't always agree with them I'm still playing the game.

However I've found even with the extra doubloons and diamonds it still wouldn't be enough, I wish the pieces were available on the wheels even if it were just a few pieces on a few wheels so it would feel like I'm looking for something. I think part of that is hindering my enjoyment of the game a bit. I was lucky to get the 3 sunken treasures I wanted, and could fit so now I'm just spinning randomly for pieces. Some of the wheels have more double and triple pieces than others so I've been trying to aim for those but since I know it's not going to make much difference I'm not really paying much attention. I'll end up with 2, maybe 3 but I won't be putting that 3rd down as one on it's own isn't worth the 3 palaces I'd need to delete to fit it there on it's own.

I think the dynamic of the game would have been much better had pieces been available on wheels, people would have something to shoot for other than the standard SoK or the very rare sunken treasures. There are also no doubloons on the wheels either like tickets were available previous years.

The changes in beta to the boats certainly made them very worth while to me however summer event as a whole feels like it has been quite downgraded. I don't like how the boats are nothing more than pay to win, 1 you can get with the game but if you want multiples you need to pay. In last years event if you wanted multiples you needed to be lucky and be on all the time to stalk the wheels. If you bought diamonds you had much better odds at winning many palaces but that wasn't the be all end all, I ended up with more palaces spending much much less than others last year just from wheel stalking.

Unfortunately once you play this game long enough most of the wheel prizes don't excite you. You have more than enough of everything offered and room for none of it. Things have to be good enough to delete other things to put them down. I wish they put a bit more focus on non building prizes, for instance there is only 1 large FP prize and that is only 20 points. Why not a 50 or a more rare 100? Rogues are silver prize for a single rogue... There just isn't enough variety between the wheels to make them interesting, to me at least.

In beta they said they made the wheels better, I think they may have added some more sunken treasures and soks among them but apart from that it seems all they did was make the silver prizes gold and call it a day.

I think this is essentially what your post boils down to. Players whose cities aren't already full to bursting with awesome event buildings get pretty excited with these events. When you're replacing a building from the tech tree with a building from an event, that's a lot cooler than replacing an event building with an event building.

I have been feeling good about this event so far. I spent quite a bit of time preparing for it, saving up diamonds from farms and did what I could to ensure that I would be able to get enough rewards to set me up well for the next year+ of VF.

With what I was able to save and my conservative estimates for the last half of the event playing. I'll finish with 3 full ships and probably a spare upgrade or two for a fourth but I won't be using.

I've earned 5 ST and 6 SoK as well as a fair handful of all the selection kits. I've got a few extra store buildings so fitting all this won't be so tricky and by the end of this event I'll be at least +25fp on the day, that's not disappointing in the least.

I do wish I would see more ST and SoK on the wheel, if only for it to stir up some more hood interest. There does seem to be a lack of interest in this year's event even though (In my opinion) the design of this event is actually better than last year's summer and has an overall better reward.

In my farm towns I have been trying to find wells and that's about it. In almost all of them I've been able to keep up with questing and I will say that the rarity of wells seems worse than previous years. In other events I have earned up to 10 wells in a single city. At this point it looks like I'll be averaging 2-4 wells per farm this time around. Unfortunate. But not game ruining.

I do have a new city in Z where I am still in BA and won't be able to finish. So I won't have a complete ship unfortunately. Though I was able to get a few useful things there, I feel like there is an intentional bar on these recent events keeping BA players from having the ability to complete them. I do understand they want you to progress out of there fast and play the rest of the game. But I feel like there should be some workaround on these. And It can still work to this advantage.

The quest I am stuck on is win 10 battles or donate of age goods; an example that could allow a BA player to theoretically complete this but would still *force* some kind of advancement, research a tech or donate of age goods. Allowing some time to be taken when desired instead of simply a fixed stop point. For all BA players. This resolves both issues i see and whole I don't plan on camping here much longer, I still have a few base requirements I wish to achieve before advancing. Something actually being able to complete the event would actually speed up so I could advance quicker.

I have seen a lot of mixed feelings toward this event but reading any of the feedback logs from any previous summer all seem to sound similar. There has been an increased push from inno to make using diamonds next to necessary for completing an events top rewards. But in the past year or two, the number of ways to earn said diamonds for free has also increased wildly. I see it as less of a cash grab and more of a reward for the invested player, they can't just give out more diamonds and not increase the demand for them.

I do question this year's theme. Being the ship and sunken treasures and so much nautical theme. Being released immediately AFTER the year plus of oceanic adventuring and just days into the virtual future. It feels like this theme should have had it's release while oceanic was still the end of the line. I do hope that the next events at least have buildings that feel like they could have a connection to a virtual world.

Based on the start of your post, I imagine you're at or near the end of the tech tree? Your hood, like you, probably has fairly full cities with enough event buildings to the point that acquiring more isn't very appealing. But I can say it depends on who you're grouped with too. My hood's all VF players and the wheel's pretty much refreshed at least twice an hour by people looking for SoKs, STs and WWs.

My one disappointment with this event is that Champion's Retreats and Rogue Hideouts are not available on the wheel whatsoever. It's possible to win a Rogue Hideout as a grand prize, but that's so many Treasure Hunts in that it's diamond-exclusive. I guess a plus to this is that there also aren't any Drummer Schools or Color Guard Camps on the wheel either...seems they just didn't want to have barracks at all this year. Related, I still lament the removal of normal unit barracks as event prizes. I still have some in my inventory that I won a couple years ago. But I guess it was seen as too unfair for players to be able to obtain military buildings without first researching them? I don't particularly like that, but I can see why they went that route.

I dislike that as well. It was my assumption that they took the barracks off the wheel due to the chapter releases of VF not containing full sets of unit types. So players would either be given an unfair extra chance at getting one unit type over another, be given previous age barracks for artillery and fast, or somehow be given barracks that haven't even been released. And since each has its own issues. It's easier to just pull them.

You are correct, in my main city I am in VF and have some of the highest ranking players on the server in my hood. So many already have what they want so to speak and are only searching for very specific things. The wheel does get refreshed by those looking for the elusive SoK and ST.
There is still a lot of event to play, so those that are dormant and haven't been active yet may still come in for late game rounds. And there are a lot of experienced strategists and diamond players up there.

DeletedUser31440

I'm liking the event, although I think I've enjoyed most of the events that I've played since I started to design my cities to make them easier. Not a knock on the event, but I forgot I was on my diamond farm and refreshed a wheel with a Wishing Well on it and just stared at my monitor for about a minute just hoping someone would refresh it back to a Wishing Well. No luck, just too much haste and stupidity.

DeletedUser29623

That isn't possible. Info on players winning something is about half an hour old and not recent.

Belatedly, this is definitely incorrect. I got into a spinning duel with a hoodie and the results appeared in the crawl feed in less than a minute after they occurred: My spinning for an ST and him refreshing the wheel like an idiot.

I have been trying to figure out what to do with all my Selection kits. I am saving 1 for an additional ship if I ever get the space but I have a lot of them and don't know the best use for them.

In my lower level city the FP's seem like a good deal as I can use 1 kit almost complete a technology. In other cities the 25 FP would be nice but wouldn't make a big impact.

I don't see where the kits are age specific. I was considering just saving them to cash in for goods if I ever get to one of the Future levels in case goods there are hard to come by.

What are your plans for the kits after using them for an extra ship or two?

DeletedUser29623

Wait, do you get the good of the age you’re in when you open it or the goods of the age you were in when you won it?
