Halloween 2014 Event - Discussion

DeletedUser2145

There are two maps, the continent one and the gvg one. A quest wouldn't force anyone to participate in gvg, so what turns a piece of the continent map green?

Please use spoiler tags if you're providing actual answers to any riddle. So that #1 if someone wants to solve the riddle themselves they won't accidentally read it; #2 it doesn't show up in searches as there's always the potential it could be wrong.

So I finished the quest-line. Is that it, that's the whole event?? Silly me, I thought the REAL event would start when I solved all the dumb riddles. Guess not. This seems like a total dud compared to past events. Anyone want a graveyard? How about a haunted house? Bah humbug.

It's called a questline. No one said players should expect a full event with special currency and whatnot every 2 months.

In fact, no one said anything about what to expect. The fact remains that since I've been playing, "real" events have been staged every couple of months. They were all cleverly designed and engaging to play. I've enjoyed all of them: Easter, soccer and casino. Why wouldn't I expect the Halloween event to be similar? Instead of another challenging and rewarding event, we're presented with banal and stupefyingly easy riddles, the game equivalent of clip art. Of course it's a disappointment.

You're of course entitled to your opinion. As someone who's been playing for over 2 years now I'm well aware not all events are full events but a number of them are simply special questlines. Can't have Christmas every day, as then it would not longer be the great holiday it is.

Quest 12

So I seem to have no areas to scout. However, I have never conquered the last sector before the Contemporary Era. If I can beat Ong Chu Cuoi Cung will it open the map to Contemporary Zones?

Same here. I get nothing when I log in. I'm not sure what I need to do to participate in the event.

i am not there yet...have ya tried clicking on one of your houses, or looking in houses building menu?
or in culture building menu? silly me...watch the video and really listen toward the end

Yeah, it's a little like getting a tie for Father's Day.

Yet a tie is still a gift. There's a fine saying, don't look a gift-horse in the mouth.

Respectfully, it's not a gift horse. And there's no shame in looking in the mouth, most honorable Constable. As is often said about plundering, and odd neighborhoods, the events are part of the game. I'm not sure why you are chiding us for stating an opinion that this event/quest line is not up to the standards of the recent past. Previous events were generally much more engaging.

I have no doubt that Warner Bros. will have more than a few duds in the 10 superhero movies they have on their slate over the next few years. So let us grouse over this one. And anticipate the next big hit.

I'm not sure how useful a negative happiness house with no population is going to be.

Because you should not keep expecting full events. They take a lot of time for designing, coding, and likely even for brainstorming. And this game is still in development so it's not like these events are all the developers have to work on. They're something extra that they do on top of all their other work.

Year 1: Winter Event (full event), Valentine's Event (questline), Easter Event (full event), FoE Anniversary Event (questline), Summer Event (full event), Halloween (questline)

Year 2: Winter Event (full event), Valentine's Event (questline), Easter Event (full event), Soccer Cup Event (full event), Summer Event (full event), Halloween (questline)

So compared to the first year, one of the questlines (the anniversary one) was changed to an actual full event. And somehow, despite all this and the various other work (the new ages, the new game content, the improvements to the existing game content) players are always disappointed. I understand folks not being as enthusiastic about it as full events, there's less to do and less to win. But they can't all be monthly events with 100 various rewards and special currency and fancy graphics.

And while I'm replying to one or another, I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular. I'm just seeing lots of negativity over the tiniest details about the Halloween event both here on the forum and in support. Every now and then someone will ask why aren't the devs discussing things here on the forum --- can one really blame them?

For #16 you must sell 3 buildings from your age.
Which really, really sucks since quest #15 kicked me into High Middle Ages, so the only age building I can make is the alchemist. Blarg.

There's usually a decoration or something which you get just by entering the new age.
