First you figure out how many diamond maps there will be. Take all the diamond league guilds. Our world currently has 33 diamond league guilds. Maps are 7 or 8 guilds, so with 33 guilds you get 5 maps of 7 and 2 plat league will be pulled into the diamond as 6th and 7th guild on the lowest map...

The way I understand, victories will indeed reset. But still, they end up 3rd in a championship. It's unfair to a whole slew of guilds that fought in diamond all 6 seasons

Assuming they win their plat league map this upcoming season, they will be #3 in the current championship. They will end on 1000 LP and have 5 wins. Current #1 & #2 have 5 wins, which will be either both 6 or a 6 and a 5 when they match together, but then whoever loses that matchup will rank...

Which is perfectly fine, but expecting the same perks as a big guild is not.

So instead of putting in the effort and growing your guild, your solution is to punish everyone else that did just that and decapitate them?

Another suggestion: merge guilds. When there's less guilds, it gets harder to promote all the way to diamond, weaker guilds will be demoted to platinum and you have your premium, separate league for the top guilds. Without changes to how LP is accumulated and capped, a new league above diamond...

Because there are no ties on VP, there's no visible evidence that level wouldn't be a tie-breaker in that case. Inno did announce it as the 4th level. Very unlikely to be actually used since a tie on VP is highly unlikely. Doesn't mean it isn't coded that way. It has a lot to do with guild...

We do. Once every 2 weeks. Opening. That's it. Otherwise there's nothing to plan around.

We just came to the same conclusion in a discord for our world. Cumulative VP would solve the issues and actually place the "perpetual 2nd place" guilds where they belong. The current system doesn't work.
