I seem to be answering the same questions over and over with essentially the same response. I suppose I could STFU but that prolly ainly happening none too soon. Occasionally I think I nailed an answer, got it just right and don't want to have to try to recreate it later.

Each answer will get it's own post, I'll link them in the following post this, Table of Incontenence if you will.

This ain't Gospel, nor the TRUTH, nor a FAQ in the normal sense, it's just my best answer I have to lots of forum topics. I try to be onjective, no guarantees. You're welcome to try toargue with me, I may or may not respond. Feel free to use anything in this thread however you want. link, wuoyte, paraphrase, whatever.

i do have one request, no likes. The posts got whatever responses they merited at the time they were posted. No;double dipping please, but thanks for the thought. Maybe we should revive the Disuje Proposal?

Wanna save yout answer gems here as well? All good, I'll link them up.

Definitely a work in regress, err, progress, I don't promise anything close to regular updates. I'll try to give a snese of what was going on at the time, a background.

Also, please, if you see some other answer from anyone you think should be here, drop it in. I'll add it to the ToC.

I'm tucking this away down here in Pending Guides, I don't want to get in the way. If there's a better place for this I'd be happy if a Mod slid it there.

Background: This was about 2-3 months after DCs went live. The DC Feedback thread was dilled with requests to get rid of one DC Quest after another, every DCQ had someone who complained that their particular DCQ was unfair. The forums were filled with threads and Proposals to get rids of one particular DC or another. Not surprisingly very few people who wanted their hated DCQ removed supported others being removed as well. The answer prolly should be rewritten tco over all self centered Proposals. I'll get a round tuit.

----------

I vote no.

As i will for every self-centered Proposal a player posts because their chosen play style conflicts with the game.

Any Proposal to remove a DC Quest is self centered. There is no considering players whp like or do not object to that particular DC Quest, Nor considering other players who do not like or object to different DC Quests then the Proposal addresses and will get more of their disliked Quests if this Proposal was implemented.

Background: In the same post as above I make a promise to a new player. It's not a hard promise to fulfill, all of you have proven over and over that you are people whi will help players who ask politely for help, just as you don't hesitate to respond appropriately (heh!) to whiners.

I'm happy with the original post, two pretty good Answers and what triggered the creation of this thread.

----------

This game is complex with a lot of subtle relationships. You're new to the game and it will take time to learn those relationships. In the meantime you will make mistakes never realizing they are mistakes at the time and will naturally get frustrated when you do realize they were mistakes. You will forget to Collect On Time and get plundered. You will eventually tear down that Special Building or worse yet a bad GB (I'm looking at you ND and Colosseum!) that you worked so hard to get. You'll move to a new Era and realize weeks or months later and stall out because you don't have enough Goods from a previous Era.

Frustrations abound in this game.

There are three critical requirements to play this game anywhere near optimally and reduce the frustrations to a manageable amount. . Patience. The ability to plan ahead short and long term. Understanding of the game. No one can help you with the first two.

Understanding the game is different. These forums are filled with experienced players Every player who has responded to this thread and your previous Proposal (and most other long term frequent posters) has a history of helping people who ask We sympathize with players who want help, we all need help with this massively complex game.

You have to take that first step. Ask for help and advice,. I promise you will get it and acquire the knowledge.to play this game well.

I'm sure you will find asking for help a lot less frustrating then the responses from trying to change the game.

Good luck

I'm not Algona and I support the sentiment behind this project.

Hopefully, with something more tangible. At a later date.

Edit1: In regards to tinfoil RNG.
Cheap answer: Data or GTFO.
Less cheap answer: Data, so we can discuss how the data may or may not fall into RNG versus "Inno's smart business manipulations".
Expensive answer: Get the Mathematicians in here to analyze the data.

secret ninja edit: Creating profiles for the 0% defense thread so I can use this as a quick reference instead of re-reading the entire thread.

Sal Pro: 24/224 defense (not counting troop boosts) buoyed by 16 Watchfires + 12 RoF, and a level 8 SBC (plans on level 10)
Mar 31st: 2 attacks, 0 breaches 1 unique attacker (Attacker appears to be... derp?)
Apr12: 6 attacks, 0 breaches, 4 unique attackers

StLo Pro: Future Era: Boost: 21/422 Defense tiles in city:10.1% (214) Defense tiles with other benefits: 54% of total defense tiles(116)
Contemporary: Boost: 18/446 Defense tiles in city: 11.2% (208) Defense tiles with other benefits: 48.6% (101)
Indy Age: Boost 0/174 Defense tiles in city: 4.4% (56) Defense tiles with other benefits: 21% (12)
Colonial: Boost 0/65 Defense tiles in city: 2.3% (28) Defense tiles with other benefits: 32% (9)

BulkBo Pro: Tomorrow Era. 164% defence and get plundered once, twice, sometimes three times a day during events. In the low ages my goods were always targeted. Now, the Set buildings that produce 3 or more fp, or a combination of goods plus fps, get targeted first. The events tend to upset my collection time, so that is when this happens. During no event, i can collect on time and avoid to plunders, but still get beaten.

Anybody here that believes this collection of information could result in being targeted by plunderers, PM me and I'll scrub it away.

Edit2: Gathering Data/replies/whatever-fits-my-fancy in regards to PvP towers. My Delusion of Grandeur is creating a proposal that helps Inno revamp PvP towers into something 'worthwhile' again. I also like the idea of adding a Diplomatic mechanism to it (Battle points count towards tower if player does not pillage? Yeah, this is why I consider it a DoG).

"PvP towers Reward a percentage of the Individuals next Medal Expansion . Cirrent Tower gives 2.5% diminsihing ,5% down to .5% for the remaining Towers. 2.5% may be too high.

Random Rewards roughly Equivalent to the DC 7 day Rewards for winning the Current Era Tower." [Alg]

Background: From a bizarre thread where a new poster wanted INNO to change an Event midstream because they didn't think the RNG was working properly. The poster never came close to anything resembling data or any mathematics or any understanding of causality or independent events. Instead they insisted on absurd analogies, three of which are listed in the third paragraph. Have fun picking them out.

----------

Serious discussions of Probability can only be meaningful and persuasive if discussed using only the mathematics of probability.

Why use imprecise English when there is precise mathematics? Everything not using math is unsubstantiated babble and opinion. No math, no meaning. No serious data rigorously recorded, no reliable conclusions.

English based analogies are meaningless, whether it;s buses, aardvarks, kids getting whooped in karate clas, stories of game play occurrances, hamburger flippers, or what is remembered from the last trip to the casino.

As the poster accusing INNO of malfeasance, it is incumbent on the OP to at the least provide rigorous data before attempting a mathematical analysis.

Anything else is a waste of time.

I’m not Algona either but Jeeeeebus... Posting this here for a quick copy/paste if it’s needed... Edit as needed for specific instances.

Background: Hi, I'm a new player and I don't understand swap threads. I've read through this forum thread and I've searched other forum threads about fps, swaps, snipes, locks, arcs, obs, and nasty people. All I've learned are... fragments... of a much larger ecosystem of pals, pirates, and oldtimers with views differing on subtle details.

I still don't understand swap threads. The rudimentary concept is obvious: You scratch my GB, I'll scratch yours. Beyond that, I'm clueless. There seem to be many ways to do it wrong.

A suggestion? Perhaps you'd be kind enough to explain swap threads in some detail... without assuming us newbies know anything, since we don't. This explanation should include the alternate views and logic of competing schools of thought. You might also want to tie the discussion of swap to other issues, so we can see why we might want to swap... or not.

If I may be so bold: Title it: Introduction to Swap Threads. This will help newcomers find the information. Then if we don't read it, our fault.

Thank You!

—————-

What you are asking for is in the GUIDES section of the forum, or on the Wiki website, or found in google. Not many are going to jump through a big hoop to write up an entire guide for you (not quickly at least). This is a very complex game with numerous strategies, avenues and aspects to explore.

I enjoy reading, but some don’t so here’s one of the guides posted with videos (guide links to YouTube).
https://forum.us.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/morbidejs-guides.14414/

Guide #2 provides a quick explanation of multiple methods to level a GB, including these swap threads.

Again, complex game with players living busy lives, time and efficiency becomes a factor quickly. Swap threads make a quick/easy solution to a person hunting a trade partner. I’ll save the rest for your researching enjoyment. If you have “specific” questions, many will be happy to answer/help. Post those in the “QUESTIONS” section of the forum.

Background: This was in answer to someone asking why people camp in an Era, and what to do if you don't want to camp.

----------

Each Era the game becomes progressively more difficult. CMap fights are harder and more expensive to negoriare, GE is tougher, tech is more expensive.

The big payoff in this game for the last year+ is GE. The rewards are more frequent then any other aspect of the game and are comparable to or better then the best available from DCs and Events. Significant GE prizes do not scale, they are the same form Era to Era and are essential to accelerate game state advancement. However, the effect of those prizes is magnified in earlier Eras.

The fighting is easier in earlier Era GE, a full set of leveled attack GBs with Traz+Rogues makes GE a cakewalk in early Eras.

The same theory applies to DCs, the next easiest way to get good Prizes. The top DC prizes don't scale/ As is the case wiht GE, why not get those prizes sooner rather then later?

The only good reason to move up in Era is to unlock more Expansion to cram in more GBs and GE and DC prizes.

Did INNO intend this? I don't know, but camping is an inevitable consequence of INNO's additions of RQs + CF, DCs, GE, combned with Events requirong Tech and CMap progress.

----------

Camping is allowed and is a successful strategy that combines well with other succesful stratefies.

The question becomes what can one do if one does not want to camp?

Play the game the way you want.

About the onlt bad things that campers can do to you is snipe the Rewards on GBs from you and plunder you. Both problems can be mitigated, if you need help with either ask and some one will point you in the right directions.

Good luck!

Bacjground: Infrequent but passionate discussions about the morakuty of snuoung occuer, Inevitably some word game player wants a definition of sniping. I posted something a while back that had a definition i could live with. But I lost track of it. Titris Thrawns was doinf some forum archaeologu and found it. Thank you Titris.

----------

You guys still arguing about the dfginition of sniping? I thought I threw out a definition of sniping I can live with. Where was it? Ah. I didn't generalize it. Sorry. First draft at a general definition:

Sniping: When a player overbids an existing mistake in bidding that can be resolved by either underbidding or overbidding such that both players still maintain the two Reward positions except for their individual places.

Hmmm. Kinda shoddy, needs polishing, but I like the gist of it. Gives the latitude to either cut the schmuck a break or cut his heart out and eat it.

Some industrious soul could prolly even write an equation, looks susceptible to mathematic definition. Me? No, I don't have an unopened quart of Scotch handy.

My pleasure. Although, credit should go to @sloppyjoeslayer for providing the link that sent me on my archaeological dig.

True credit to all you 'old fossils' for burying those gems in the past.

If my fire of industry is/stays/something-something lit, I may look into that equation. I've always wanted to be a Hari Seldon.

Background: One of those recurring 'Get rid of INNO Messages' Proposals TA152H drops one of the best posts of the year. Funny as all hell. Some tandom mod decides to edit most of post because it was 'foolish'.

So I'm saving a copy here.

-----------

I find Inno's messages life changing for me. They are not only relevant to this game specifically, but also to life. My emotional well-being is tied very closely with the amount of wisdom and spiritual support I get from InnoGames.

I also find there are many layers and textures to these messages. Would reading it once ever be enough? Isn't it nice to be reminded day after day to reexamine these messages, which are insights into our souls? Would Inno, in their complexity, sublime delicacy, and perspicacity put out a message that wasn't important to re-read several times to get the full meaning?

This latest, regarding privacy, was so inspiring and relevant to me, I examined many things in my life I was doing, and made changes in a way I felt InnoGames would approve.

We have improved our privacy policy in light of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in the EU.
You can review the privacy policy and your data management preferences in the game settings.
Use the button below to view more information on the game forums.

If you read it once, will you understand what Inno is REALLY advising us about?

Although subtle, clearly this is an invitation from Inno to improve ourselves. They are improving, and we are all part of the Inno solar system, and this is encouragement from the company to improve with them, so we can always be synchronized (or optimally tidally locked) with our great star.

It was also a reminder how important privacy is. And how by doing the right things, in this world where anonymity is nearly impossible, is the best approach for privacy. Within the context of the improvement we are advised to initiate, this clearly is telling us to perfect our lives, and do what we will never be ashamed of.

How? Clearly we need better self-regulation, and discipline. We need to protect ourselves from general degeneracy, and subversive influences. We need to shape our preferences in a holistic, consistent way to move forward in life, rather than having conflicting data retard our progress.

Inno is also clear that although we may like to share all things, sometimes the most pragmatic, decent and polite approach is to keep certain things private, and other living creatures should to respect that. For example, I had a very nosy dog, and had to set him free because all my efforts to communicate with him failed; he was stubborn and not going to change.

And Inno's last paragraph says it all. This is just a start. A first step. For further assistance, and to truly revolve around InnoGames, we need to dig further into it, and make it a lifelong commitment to gaining more data and insight, while using it to manage our lives. Only through engagement and immersion, can we reach our potential. With Inno.

In my opinion, we need at least one inspirational message from Inno up at all times, for guidance. Without it, aren't we all just a little bit lost?"

i'm gonna use this as a notebook while reading the Guild Battlegrounds (GBattles) feedback and quotewhat I think are good questions and ideas here.

Ny own comment: INNO needs to clearly state that there are no plans to close GvG.

Terms need to be defined, province is used a lot but seems to be used to mean different things. Taking a provicne needs to be defined, it appears form the pictures that a province needs to be attakced multiple times and that it is a race to see who captures first. Negotiation costs should be given. Different League reward amounts should be given. Details and samples of the province buildings and how and costs to build.

What costs for GBattles comes from Guild Treasury?

Following are questions and ideas from the official feedback thread.

----------

Does Attrition affect Negotiations?

From what I understand, attrition will limit the number of provinces that a fighter can acquire (based on the concept that attrition will make it increasingly more difficult to battle). Is there a similar mechanism to limit the number of provinces that a negotiator can acquire? Will the negotiations become increasingly more expensive?

Will Attrition Recalc cause lag or will it be spread out?

Rather than have attrition reset to 0 every day (which seems like it could produce the same problems that GvG reset currently has), it might be better to have attrition recover at a specified rate which is tied to the guild's recruitment boost.

GB Support Pool will there be some reflection of this in GBattles?

One question: Various buildings, including GB, give Guild Support Pool. It would be nice if that feature came to benefit the participants in the new Guild Battle game. That way, even if you never play GvG, I will get some use out of the Support Pool aspect of my buildings, after all.

Will GBattles use AF and higher Era Treasury Goods? My followup on this is to allow the Guild to selevt the Era of Goods to pay any Treasury Goods costs in GBattles.

There's nothing wrong with the new feature. The problem I have is that the guild treasuries are being stuffed to almost data overflow with goods beyond FE and quests are still demanding that we donate AF, OF and VF goods. Can't we have a feature so that goods higher than FE can be used either in the AA map or as substitutes for lower era goods? Or the ability to trade guild treasury goods with a "merchant" for lower era goods?

Will competition be across multiple servers?

Question - will we be matched across servers or only within server? Cross-server is very nice feature of GE.

Will GBattles negotiaitions be lije GE or like CMap neogtiations?

"Negotiation" needs to be a "chance" and not a "guarantee" so it needs to work like GE negotiations and not sector negotiations.

Ask SuperC about the other change they are working on, looks really good.

EDIT: Saving the following.

fFixed.

The data still shows the newest few worlds are still substantially behind in player development.

You chose to dispute CaptainKirk's point.

You refuse to look at the data even though you demonstrated how easy the data is to get.

The evidence is clear, the conclusion inevitable.

You dismissing it as 'theory' doesn't change that you were wrong, just means you are wrong a second time.

Nice pivot away from discussing you being wrong about CaptainKirk's advice to trying to imply that that there is something wrong with offering unsolicited advice to inexperienced players.

Is that your personal viewpoint, an unannounced change in forum policy, or you resorting to your old trick of disruption through distraction?
