Currently halfway through this Viking Settlement (10 Quests left). Beast Hunter is already in place, which means there's 10 hours left until I can place down my next two expansions with them Horns.
Do I appreciate having to pay 200 Copper Coins per Snow Trail now? No, this is indeed a change I dislike. Is the start of a new Viking Settlement more difficult now that production times are longer and we have "less" Copper Coins to work with? That is certainly the case. However, as of writing this, I am currently operating three Goods Buildings set to 10-hour productions each (a total of 6.000 Copper Coins), and I still have over a thousand Copper Coins left (will be more once I wake up). Despite the initial struggle of running 2 Goods Buildings at the start, the difference in difficulty is not really noticeable compared to how it was before the update.
While many might lament the "decrease" in Copper Coins, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. In one particular Viking Settlement I had completed long ago, I had 42K Copper Coins by the time I completed the final Quest. I obtained all the timed rewards with one day to spare. Overkill, I know. While I am in the minority for saying this, Snow Trails now costing Copper Coins hasn't really affected my ability to continuously keep my Goods Buildings running, except for that one fumble of mine which I posted about the other day.
There's also the issue with Impediments. They're more frequent now, this we all know, which'll certainly make the arrangement of Buildings much more difficult for the Vikings. But having completed 10 Quests so far, this means I've already obtained one pickaxe (which I've used), and the next Quest will give me another pickaxe, and I've already thought of which Impediment I shall use it on. Of the eight immediately-available expansions, six had Impediments, which is alright I guess. Seeing as how that number is effectively going to be reduced to four thanks to the pickaxes, this is a change that I don't particularly like or dislike. It adds to the strategy I suppose, since at least I can pick which Impediments to yeet.
TL;DR: Cost of Roads sucks but IMO we had too many Copper Coins to begin with anyways. Increased frequency of Impediments sucks but with the help of pickaxes, players still have to strategically plan which expansions to purchase and how to arrange Buildings around existing Impediments, meaning not much has changed from how things were before.
