Disturbing revelation about the Event

Before continuing I would say I do not recommend cheating. However there is someone in my world, who shall not be named for security purposes, that told us the event is rigged. He has proof.

So I am fine with a luck based system, the summer event was great. I felt there was a bit of skill that could be used if you timed the spinner. The perception of skill is a great thing, but only if you have a chance at winning. Even if it is a slight chance and requires high skill to do so.

The winter event has a shuffle. You watch the daily prize, and if you are quick enough you can track which present the daily ends up under right?

At least I thought so.

Then someone sent a mass message explaining, this simply is not true. For those who can't access the picture for whatever reason, I'll explain what he did. I don't recommend trying to copy his results, it won't work anyway due to his results.

He recorded his screen while the shuffle commenced. Then he uploaded the video privately to Youtube, with the intention I presume of taking it down once his deed was completed. Once the video was playing, he paused the video and proceeded forward frame by frame. The shuffle, even in its fastest point was very easy to track he claimed. When the shuffle ended and the prizes were covered up, he knew EXACTLY where the daily was. Or so he thought.

He clicked that present and it turns out, the shuffle is a ruse. The daily wasnt there, even though he saw in his video that it had stopped exactly where he had clicked. Turns out the event is 100% random based, and the perception of skill is just a ruse. It is impossible to track the present and you are wasting your time if you try. Because as soon as the presents are presented, the daily is then switched one final time, without any indication allowing you to use any amount of skill to find it.

Skeptical, I tried it. I only wanted to see if he was telling the truth. If he was, no harm done. If he wasn't. I would have discarded the video and never spoke of it, as I don't like cheating in video games. Yet I feel it is important to be aware of this ruse if it is in fact a ruse. Turns out. He was correct.

I feel like Inno is deceiving all of us by making a perception that if you are just good enough, you can track the present. It seems that is not true. We were unfortunately lied to based on our test results.

Every year someone says that they can track the daily prize by watching the shuffle. With thousands of people playing there is a fair chance that someone will get lucky and find the daily prize that way enough times so that they think anyone can track it. I isn't true. It's all luck and has been every year.

I hate to break it to you, but slot machines in casinos are also like this. Because they once used actual spinning drums with images on them and people associate that with slot machines, they still show that as the video display. However, the minute you pull the arm, or push the button or whatever, the result is instantaneously determined by an algorithm within the machine. The video display then spins and stops to reflect that pre-determined result. The Summer Event Casino wheel worked exactly the same way, and apparently so does the present shuffle. :D

I missed something. What is supposed to be disturbing?

I run a vintage 2000 PC. Slow on anything with video. I see exactly where the daily prize is when the presents are wrapped.

I thought I had it made in Winter 2015. Nope.

A ruse? Heh. Sure. Just like thinking you can control the wheel in the Summer Event.

I definitely thought i could control the wheel in the summer .... ive read numerous places that it was predetermined but im not so sure... i recall being great at getting what inwas going for and i even knew if i was gonna come up short or go too long ... i felt very strongly that i had control at the time but maybe i was wrong... my great results however seemed to indicate that skill was a factor as well but it might just be small sample size bias

I think the most disturbing attribute of the event...and the one that Inno just give a flyer about (even though they really might want to ...right)...is the intense boredom this event is generating...Genuinely snore worthy

Different servers are serving different countries and thus different cultures...Are they aware of this little observance? Evidently not

This event is totally lame, as usual.

Normally lame because there are no prizes worth winning. This year, it's lame because you need to win a ridiculously large number of prizes for it to be worth winning any. I'm not even bothering with the quests this year. I stopped at the 20x 5min productions quest.

Also, the shuffle button is dumb and makes this event wholely unenjoyable.

The tip off was the year before. If the wheel was going to stop on a coin or supply prize, you saw it added to your total as soon as you clicked "Spin". I believe this year they at least fixed it so that it waited until the "spin" stopped to show it being added. LOL

Of course the shuffle is a ruse. Do you seriously think they'd make it to where you could record your screen and play it back in slow motion to see where the good prizes land? Then all you'd have to do is wait til SoK day, start and record the shuffle, learn where the X2, SoK, and reshuffle are, grab two SoK's, reshuffle (with video recording again) and continue to grab two SoK's til you run out of stars.

Precisely... so the answer would be 'Yes' to statement one and "No of course not" to the follow on. Now THAT would make sense...no?

I do not have a problem with the visual shuffle not being related to the actual positions of rewards, it seems logical to stop cheating. With the summer wheel, chances to get what you wanted were bigger when trying to get the right timing, but certainly not 100%, unless maybe for those who had developed a way of making it foolproof, which in my way of thinking is still cheating.

What I DO have a problem with is the 'reshuffle' which is really a 'start all over again from scratch' and not a reshuffle of cases left to uncover. I have hit that now 3 times, 1st time after I had uncovered more than half of the cases. That means having spent more than 100* for prints and coins and other useless things, while making it virtually impossible to get today's special.

There is no way around the reshuffle, it is not optional like it was with the wheel.

If Inno wants people to spend diamonds, please say so clearly, or at least take the reshuffle out after having hit it the first time

At the end of the shuffle you'll also notice the entire screen briefly flash (at least on my phone where i do event stuff) to a configuraton slighty different from th end of the shuffle.

I got pretty lucky with the prize I was hunting being under the same colour present 4 days in a row, then yesterday's I went through three board shuffles and a lot of the free stars from my semi-annual diamond purchase to get it.

Personally I've found that the summer wheel can be somewhat manipulated on the mobile system (every spin two years running I can get within 1 either side of the target which seems unlikely to be purely luck), but Winter is totally random.

where in any of the descriptions does it say anything about this being a skill game for the event? the announcement line (see below) says the presents are hidden and then shuffled. There is zero indication that there is a technique to winning certain presents nor does it say anything about 'a sharp observer' or anything like that. In fact anyone who has ever heard of recording your screen should know that Inno would surely account for that when setting this game up because it wouldn't be much of a 'skill' game if all you had to do was record your screen.

When you press the "Start" button, the presents are hidden and shuffled.
