Do advances in GBG get erased if the attacker loses their adjoining province?

I know you have to control an adjacent province to attack a province in GBG.

Let's say we are attacking province A from province B and we have made 80/160 advances on province A when someone else captures province B. Do we lose credit for the advances on province A?

Our guild was attacking a province at the same time as another guild and we lost the race and they captured the province first.

At that point it seemed like we lost advances somehow. In the race we were at 140/160 or something like that when the other guild won the race, but when I look at the province now, it says we only have 70/160 (and the province is locked down). Did we lose half of our advances when the ownership of the province changed?

Are you saying your Guild is in diamond and nobody in your guild knows the answers to these questions?

You lose all your progress if you no longer have an adjacent province and half your progress if you still do.
