Egypt Settlement Quick Start Guide

I tried some of the battle suggestions. Here's how it went. Opponent (easy army) had three elephants, 1 chariot and 1 archer. I stayed back and split my forces (2 archers, 2 camels, 4 K fighters since this is all I have so far) to each corner so they would have to do the same. They marched toward me, remaining out of range for the first couple of turns. Finally, an elephant came within the range of one of my camels. I fired, did 1 point of damage. The elephant then charged that camel and killed him in one blow. On the other side of the battle, the elephant came into range and I fired. 1 point of damage. This time, I surrendered so I wouldn't lose more troops, so the elephant didn't get the chance to charge my other camel and kill it also. I checked the medium army and it had an elephant and three camels, so I obviously would not have a chance there either. I didn't even bother to check the hard one. There is no strategy that can win a battle where it takes 50 shots to kill the opponents' 5 units and only 8 shots to kill all 8 of mine. Defeat the easy army and don't lose any troops? LOL what a joke! Just like the whole Egyptian settlement.

I started playing FoE in 2015 or 2016. During that time, there has been one time that I completely canceled my account and stopped playing for about a year, and four other times (with my current account) when I just stopped playing for periods ranging from 3 or 4 months up to more than a year. Situations like this and the ridiculous time this game consumes have been the reason every time I left the game. I started this current round of playing back in October. It's beginning to look like it's time for another hiatus. I just don't understand developers who actively try to chase players away.

It's pretty obvious I had no chance to win that battle since the elephants were 10-shot kills and all my units were 1-shot kills. I checked the medium army and it had an elephant and three camels, so I obviously would not have a chance there either. I didn't even bother to check the hard one. Sorry but this problem is all on you. Do you understand the "rock/paper/scissors" nature of the military units? The importance of the terrain? Probably not because none of it matters much when all a player does it click "autobattle" and let AI do the work. In your example, you split your army and then put Camels against Elephants. Camels do not have a boost against Elephants but Elephants are boosted against Camels. You couldn't have made a poorer matchup. The most effective unit against elephants is the Khopesh fighters. The KFs can kill an elephant with two hits. You had four of them. The enemy chariot probably came into range first. The KFs would have killed it fast then been able to move on to the elephants. The Camels tear up archers. This should have been an easy battle to win.

I agree completely. Remember "Divide and Conquer"? In this case it was "Divide and Be Conquered". (Regarding the part I bolded and italicized.)

Also, tactics are completely irrelevant when one side has 1-hit kills and the other has 10-hit kills. No tactic is going to give me 50 hits before they get 8. If I had kept my units together, I would have done both points of damage to the same elephant rather than one to each. I don't see how that could have affected the battle when one hit kills my units.

If you use the correct troops it does not take 10 hits to kill the opposing unit and your units will not get killed with a single hit. Also, take advantage of terrain. Pay attention to the range of your opponents by hovering over them to learn how far they can reach on their next move. Avoid advancing into a sector where multiple units can hit you. Lastly, try to hit the units that are about to hit you next.

Get to the point where you are using 8 Archers. Only takes a day to gather them.

Manual battling takes some skill and practice.
