Garbage for the cost in diamonds. Awhile 350 apples is only two large and 1 small basket. At least in the casino event $20 got ya a decent number of spins. Every large basket seems to only give me forge points.

This event does not encourage me to spend diamonds on it.
Horrible odds of winning.
Baskets can be, and usually are, bottomless pits of unrecoverable loss.
The Palace and Garden sets encouraged spending and saw me spend ... okay I'll say it.
Over 280 Dollars on the last Casino Wheel Event.
[Edit to add: The structure of the event, and the limits of loss, or lack thereof, makes all the difference.]

The structure is set up poorly for good rewards like the last two events....Oh well, I guess you can't have a wizzbanger every time. My guess is INNO will get the hint after making a ton on the palaces and the casino and change the format in the future. Meanwhile I can't complain with the seven fps added to my city in perpetuity for two days of 'work' and there still remains chances to increase that total. At present a six on the Event-O-Meter....

OUCH! I bought 1 big diamond pack for summer so it was also one of the only times I spent the diamonds that came with the tickets as well but I haven't bought diamonds all too often. This event isn't getting a penny from me.
I've lost every, and so far that is 18, large basket I have opened. I have a lot of apples saved since I emptied on HoF day (and just won some too =) ) so hopefully tomorrow I can win at least an SoK. What I really wanted was a HoF but oh well, hopefully winter. I can't remember any other event where I was this unlucky. I can't say I haven't won anything since it's not over yet but it's not looking good.
Ardak, is this the only event you have not purchased any diamonds?

Yes, as far as Big Events go.
I bought the biggest package of diamonds, with 40% added bonus, when the event started.
I bought 3 expansions and 4 Ocean future premium supply buildings.
I'm not buying apples for this event, because the prize baskets are bottomless pits...

I can't complain about what I won. I stocked up on renovation and one-up kits and got a bunch of mills I don't intend to upgrade so I can delete a bunch of outdated supply buildings and replace them with these tiny powerhouses. But even though my luck has been good, and even though I more than once thought about buying more apples, they just cost way too much. As Oldscrappy said, you could buy a decent amount of tickets for the same $ during the casino event, plus the casino wheel was more fun.

I'm more or less satisfied. I didn't have any acquisition goals going into the event and I didn't want to spam upgraded mills. I decided to go for 2-3 HoFs when I saw them on the prize list. I've opened 9 large baskets so far, and gotten an extra cider mill and 2 HoFs. I've got 1500 still stockpiled, so I'm going to blow them all tomorrow and see how many SoKs I can pick up.

That's the huge problem.
No Stop-Loss mechanics.
You can bottomless pit the Baskets into a world of unrecoverable loss.
I'm gonna have some negative things to say about this one at the end.
I can find not one redeeming quality to save this event's grace.

Unfortunately, that's what happens sometimes when a successful event is very low (20% in this case) and you have a small sample size. 0.80 ^ 13 = 5.5% is the odds of opening 13 large baskets without a single daily prize. Even though it's expected you'll get between 2 to 3 daily specials, the 20% chance for each independent trial makes it somewhat possible to not get it once. This is based on both the binomial and poisson distribution if you are curious to look them up
.It's actually why I've decided to open the smaller basket for tonight when the SoK become available. I have over 2700 apples saved which is 20 big baskets. However at 20%, I could just as easily get 0 SoKs as I could 8 SoKs. Instead, I'm opening the smaller basket because I see a lot of value in watchfires and overall it's 20% I'll get something desirable in the small basket. So I am relying more towards the law of large numbers (36 attempts vs 20).

Well, I can say something moderately positive about the event. The crappy daily prizes over the last several days have allowed me to save up a few apples to try for SoKs.

As far as plain ole Getting Free Stuff, you have to be very unlucky to get nothing.
But the chances are there and being announced.
I spread my picks over several days.
Never going for more than 2 of any particular prize.
This avoids the Bottomless Pits of Unrecoverable Loss.
As of now I have:
2 SoKs
2 Reno Kits
2 Bazaars
2 Upgraded Cidermills.
2 of something else but I forgot.
Several Blueprints I needed.
So from a player's point of view, it is not bad, if you avoid the pits.
Avoid the pits by not dumping all your apples at one target.
Little late to find this out now, and I apologize for that.
If you scatter-pack your pickings and not focus, then you might get a favorable Variety.
From an Account's point of view, the mechanics did not encourage players to spend.
