FALL EVENT 2017

Unfortunately, that's what happens sometimes when a successful event is very low (20% in this case) and you have a small sample size. 0.80 ^ 13 = 5.5% is the odds of opening 13 large baskets without a single daily prize. Even though it's expected you'll get between 2 to 3 daily specials, the 20% chance for each independent trial makes it somewhat possible to not get it once. This is based on both the binomial and poisson distribution if you are curious to look them up :).

It's actually why I've decided to open the smaller basket for tonight when the SoK become available. I have over 2700 apples saved which is 20 big baskets. However at 20%, I could just as easily get 0 SoKs as I could 8 SoKs. Instead, I'm opening the smaller basket because I see a lot of value in watchfires and overall it's 20% I'll get something desirable in the small basket. So I am relying more towards the law of large numbers (36 attempts vs 20).

This plan kind of assumes that there is only one prize in the large basket that you want, but in my case I can use almost all of them, while the small basket is mostly things I can't use-- i.e., troops.

That's why I went for large. Watchfires are valuable but it was the only other good prize and cut your chances of getting daily special by half.

I got 6 SoKs and 5 VTs out of large, but also got 60 fp and some reno/one-up kits.

No Stop-Loss mechanics.
You can bottomless pit the Baskets into a world of unrecoverable loss.
Not really. It's 20% only 5% less than the Spring Event gold chest. So spend more, get more like usual. Of course if you compare everything to the Summer Event Wheel then I suppose I can see a bit of a point here but even then one could go many refreshes without seeing the thing they want then of course could have it taken by another. Regardless my results show 18.95% 40 out of 211 tries, which is still higher amount of data than anyone else has posted.

@Wedge, next time you make an announcement feedback thread could you please link the announcement, I'd appreciate it.
Fall Event Announcement
I spent litterally 1000's of goods to do this apple questline for apples to win prizes. yet i won 1 shrine of knowledge. this is the total of prizes i won in O world. what a waste of my goods. in the future i plan to skip all contests. Sick of not winning anything. Last years fall festival was great this year you rigged it where noone can win anything. count me out in future contests. i would rather have the goods than stupid boost crates and 5 worthless prints of the colliseum. seriously how can you in good conscious offer those as prizes. May have to look for another game to play.

I think I had a fair haul this event.

F world: 8 watchfire, 1 SoK, 2 Bountiful Cider Mills, 3 Victory Tower, 2 1-Up kit

Parkog: 2 Reno kits, 1-up kit, 2 SoK, 3 basic Cider Mills

Casino Wheel is the Consistent Big Winner for me.

So it will always be my benchmark.
Thing is you're not really providing any data that says the Summer Event is better statistically speaking. I did the Spring, Summer and Fall events specifically for Wishing Wells and the data shows that the Fall Event was the best of the three, even with getting shorted on the first "day" because that was when WW first came and it wasn't even a full day.

Horrible idea.
I went to a hamburger place once and the meal sucked.
I didn't skip my plans for future food because of one renegade sandwich.
But I never ate at that specific restaurant again.

The best thing to do next time one of these bottomless pit basket contests come around is pick prizes among several days.

Well, I had 1,695 apples saved up and threw them at 12 baskets. I got:

SoK
Store Building
BPs: Hagia, St. Mark's x2, LoA, Notre freakin' Lame
One Up Kit x4
Victory Tower
Boost Crate x2
Observatory bps
20 fp

If I'd have been actively hunting SoKs, I'd have been at least a little pissed. Every time I hit the 5 BP prize this event, I managed to get at least 1 print for the Col or ND. And really, the large basket should have the Watchfire rather than Victory Tower, VTs have become useless as prizes with how many get passed out in GE. Maybe Inno has it like that to entice players to take a crack at the small, but really who doesn't realize that's a sucker's bet?

The 1 ups I'll definitely find a use for somewhere. They were introduced in last year's Fall event, so I wonder if the Fall Event's going to end up evolving into the event to get the 1 ups to level up all the buildings you win in the other events.

Even after losing 11 days of play to Hurricane Irma, I'm pretty sure I will finish all the quest lines (nailbiter) and have won a Rogue hideout! Didn't spend diamonds, still earned enough apples to win multiple cool prizes, have I mentioned my super awesome rogue hideout? Won fps & bps most.

So odd they backload the medal packages twice for the last day. seems like they'd want to build up to something desirable to entice the last diamonds to be spent? also if i have 74 apples, for example, and am just short of an upgrade, I need to buy with diamonds for the grand prize, with the minimum being 40 apples? thats kinda rough.

They both have the same number! Explain yourself!

Here we are, once again, asking for your feedback concerning the Fall Event. We look forward to hearing your suggestions and thoughts concerning this event. :D

Sincerely,
Your Forge of Empires Team

It has been requested that we link the announcement.
I completed the Fall Questlines in Sinerania, however I am unable to plant apple trees, nor do I see more than one planted. I have 28 or so apples. I would like to continue to take part in the event until it is over. I left my guild last night because most of them do not aid, and it has not had a leader since I joined, until yesterday. I regret leaving because finding a worthy guild is not easy.
Main question, is my player/city unable to plant trees now. I have mopo'd more than a hundred buildings and have not planted one tree.

But surely we're observing these different universes from the same universe

What's this "We" stuff?

Who makes these laws, anyway?!

Who or what ever actually creates the universe from where the law come from.
In every universe there are different timelines.
When ever someone or something jumps from one timeline to another, that opens an entire new tangent.
The laws are consistent in the universe they originate from.

Unbeknownst to those indigenous to this timeline, all the laws are the same in all universes, parallel or not.

On the last SoK day I opened 7 large baskets and 1 small and won 1 SoK. So all together I opened 25 large baskets, 1 small and won 1 prize I was after. I hope I got all the bad luck out of my system in time for the winter event.

I did luck out with the last forum contest, though given the amount who entered I think it was more by default but in any case if not for being one of the runner ups there I most likely would have went the entire event winning goose egg.

The only event even @ardak kumerin didn't like and buy diamonds so hopefully come Winter they see the missed opportunity for some money and make it worth while to pay. Or they still have enough from the awesomeness that was Summer Event and don't need it.
