Fall Event Feedback

DeletedUser18177

This event is great! One of the best events I have played in terms of getting rewards and getting players active. I almost want to put extra shrine down just for the event. You get apple trees in beta even if you have nothing to motivate or polish so no need to add a lot of crap to your city. I hope that carries over to live servers. This event is a turn in the right direction.

h ecasino wasn't so bad either, except when a neighbor refreshed the wheel right when you had it cle3ared of all except the good stuff. At least the soccer event enjoyed some player control, which is what all serious players want.

Plus how about the fact this new event will supress neighborhood attacks?

I am not getting the fall festival or able to get any apples. Any suggestions?

I have just completed reading the Beta forum feedback threads for this new Fall Event and I saw no mention of the question I pose below. So can we get some official clarification on things here please?

Q: The chance that an apple tree appears in the wilderness around our city seems to be directly proportional to the number of M/P clicks or Aid clicks that our city receives. However, what happens if our city has no buildings to AID when another player clicks on the AID button for our city? Is that simply a missed opportunity at a randomly placed apple tree, or will the event still randomly place a tree, even if the player had nothing to AID?

Commentary

If a player completely misses out on a random apple tree placement, due to no buildings available to AID, then this new Fall Event has exactly the same issue that players complained about during the 2015 Easter Event. The 2015 Easter Event had Easter Eggs hidden in decorations within our cities; however, an egg could only be hidden in a decoration that was NOT polished. This meant that in order to have any chance of receiving any special event currency, that a player would have to design his city to include a field of decorations in the hopes that they would never be polished, but that eggs would be hidden there instead.

The player base resoundingly gave feedback that we did not want to have to redesign our cities to include a bunch of unneeded and unwanted decorations just so we had a decent chance of receiving the special event currency, through egg hiding actions. The end result was that the 2016 Easter Event did not have egg hiding actions and trees were randomly placed in our wilderness.

However, if this Fall Event requires that a player must have a building in his city that requires motivation or polish in order to have a random chance at receiving an Apple Tree placed somewhere in the wilderness, then the FoE game designers have learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from their previous mistakes, nor the resoundingly loud feedback the player community gave them.

If a player needs unpolished and/or unmotivated buildings, in order to be able to have a random chance at an Apple Tree placement in his wilderness, this will have exactly the same game impact that a player must redesign his or her city with a field of useless decorations, so that there is always something available to polish or motivate.

Edit...

I play beta and read the beta forum every day, and this question was answered by ByeorDie* the first day: yes, you can still plant an apple tree if there is nothing to aid.

*edited to reflect Cosmic Raven's correction ;)

Okay I missed that post reading the thread. (It was answered by byordie, but that is irrelevant really.) But thanks for pointing out that someone from the support team had answered this.

Here is a quote From Beta for others who have the same question.

Someone else tested it, and it seems so:

Of course that would require that developers actually listen to feedback. The beta forum feedback thread for this event was inundated with replies about how difficult the trees were for many players to spot. And as usual, the beta forum feedback seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Or in this case, blind eyes?

Look closer in the beta forum. It has been asked there.........and tested there by at least one beta player. they received an apple tree even when there were no buildings to aid.

The Apple Trees in the wilderness are horribly designed. I've been on the beta server while this is being tested and I know for a fact the trees are frequently impossible to find because they can spawn right next to the buildings in a players city and never be seen.

This results in having to constantly move every bloody building blocking sight along the top and right edges of your city to see if a tree is hidden behind them.

The original Easter event was better designed where the eggs spawned inside the city on decorations and had a big egg icon that was easy to see. The same could have been done with this event. At the very least use a apple icon the same size as the easter eggs so they are easier to spot.

What is it with you guys and the northern hemisphere references? It is not going to be FALL here, it will be SPRING. This applies to HALF OF THE PLANET EARTH.
Since this is the US forum and it is in the Northern hemisphere perhaps you should direct your ire further South.

Fall Event just another way of gaining dollars, euros etc. for
the FoE... If I am going join in the playing of the FallEvent I Would
like to see the Prizes be worth the while to play the Fall Event...
Prizes like "PORTRAITS" really useless and just trash, especially
when I will never ever use a female portrait(nothing against Females)
just I have the portrait I need and I need no more... a single soldier
another prize that is not worth what ever is used to gain a prize...
Coins and Supplies also useless prize:(...WHY can we see more useful
items like Land Expansions, more Diamond Prizes and How about a
Prize that gives FP's:)...and it would be nice if the FoE ENGINEERS/TECHNICIANS
can make the prizes gone once it is won by a Member, I don't need ten more
of a Building, a Queen, A King, Fortresses, etc. Once a prize is won
by a member it should be removed and gone so that Member
does not end up with so many of the same thing in the inventory or
the opportunity to exchange the prize for something the Member
does not have or for FP's, or BP's.

the use of the Store Building (consumable) will work like a reno kit one time use per building ?

I was trying to understand what colorblind folks see when they look at that tree, since I don't know much how things appear to a colorblind person. The feedback might help the devs think about how they implement such things.

Of course that would require that developers actually listen to feedback. The beta forum feedback thread for this event was inundated with replies about how difficult the trees were for many players to spot. And as usual, the beta forum feedback seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Varying degrees of color blindness from just black & white vision to seeing shades and colors but not same shades and colors as people with normal color vision see. Also there is red/green color blindness which is where people cannot see clearly things that are red and green when the colors are together, such as numbers made up from red & green dots, and also red writing on black background...so lots of different things that constructors of games sometimes never consider if they have perfect color vision.

Hi, best prizes I have seen so far! Also, I hope you can create another prize of downgrade kit “one down kit … so those who has lots of Arctic Champions Retreat can downgrade them in lower eras so all have same chances. Thank you!!!
