I enjoy watching the track and field, as I am a runner myself...

The men's 1500 and 5k were especially good!!

Gymnastics was also interesting, and of course I watched swimming too!

Fencing! Don't get to see it much here. Even during the olympics I have to watch it through bonus streaming coverage because Canada's not a major contender in the sport (though we did get a medal this time).

Freaking bad mothers in the sharp shooter category. The turkey guy used zero gear, no glasses, no ear protection, just grabbed a gun and shot and won silver.

I missed the Olympics this time around. However, I really wanted to see the Breaking event. Too bad it won't be included in the 2028 Olympics. What are all those Breaking athletes going to do in the interim?

As with many other sports, they have their own competitions outside of the olympics that noone outside their community pays much attention to. The olympics are kinda a showcase for a bunch of sports that aren't full-time popular to get attention. And in this age, if you're really obsessed with starting to follow one of them, there's probably opportunities to watch it via streaming somewhere when it's not in the olympics. It can be a lot of work to find however.

It was so awesome to see break dancing at the Olympics. Finally glad that form of art in motion is getting the respect it deserves on a very big stage.

I'd like to differ with you on this. I thought it was a silly waste of event time and energy. If I was to point out that (to the best of my knowledge) traditional dance ballet has never been an Olympic event and ask why Break Dancing was featured.... I'm curious as to what you think?

The story of breaking being debuted was actually that the association for competitive ballroom dancing wanted to get *something* into the olympics, and breaking was what they could sell best to the committee. There was apparently a pushback at first from the breaking community that the association that was representing them wasn't actually part of the scene at the time.

Really it's no different to me from figure skating in the winter olympics or synchronized swimming in the summer olympics in terms of sporting bonafides. Both are basically just forms of dancing (on ice or in water).

That said, breaking was a one-time thing, for now at least.

Each olympics host gets to pick a few sports now to feature that appeal to their organizing committee. And Los Angeles 2028 has not chosen breaking (the 5 optional sports they've chosen are baseball/softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse, and squash).
