[Question] Game Volume

Is there a way to keep the game sound volume from resetting to maximum every time you open a new window (i.e. switching between worlds)?

I do not want to turn it off I just want to turn it down. I have my speakers set at 40% and that way I can hear without disturbing my roommates. When I open a window in the game such as switching between worlds the game sounds reset to max.
