Great Building Cotest

I would like to nominate the Sagrada Familia from Spain, keeping with the Cathedral theme this structure was built in the late 1800's, and is one of the main cultural buildings of not only Spain but in Europe.

Plus I think it would look really cool in my town.

Chrysler building

Description: The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper in New York City, located on the east side of Manhattan in the Turtle Bay area at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. At 1,046 feet (319 m),[SUP] [/SUP][SUP][/SUP][SUP][/SUP]the structure was the world's tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931.[SUP] [/SUP]It is still the tallest brick building in the world, albeit with an internal steel skeleton. After the destruction of the World Trade Center, it was again the second-tallest building in New York City until December 2007, when the spire was raised on the 1,200-foot (365.8 m) Bank of America Tower, pushing the Chrysler Building into third position. In addition, The New York Times Building, which opened in 2007, is exactly level with the Chrysler Building in height.[SUP][/SUP]Both buildings were then pushed into 4th position, when the under construction One World Trade Center surpassed their height.

Is there any other building in the world that is more visited or meaningful than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which was built in 1889? What other building better represent the technological advancement of its era?

New York Public Library

With nearly 53 million items, the New York Public Library is the second largest public library in the United States, behind only the Library of Congress. It is an independently managed, nonprofit corporation operating with both private and public financing. The library has branches in the boroughs of Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island and it has affiliations with academic and professional libraries in the metropolitan area of New York State. The City of New York's other two boroughs, Brooklyn and Queens, are served by the Brooklyn Public Library and the Queens Borough Public Library, respectively. The branch libraries are open to the general public and consist of research libraries and circulating libraries.

I would have to say The Statue of Liberty, which was dedicated to the US in 1886. No building is more Iconic or represents the Progressive Era better.

Statue of Liberty? It was build in 1882 and finished in 1886. it would be a great building to put in the game, we dont have any american buildings yet in there:)

Booker T Washington, was a former slave who founded the Tuskegee Institiute. I believe it was founded on July 4th 1881 (1888?) which focused onteaching African American trade skills needed to live in white society, where they could hopefully earn a little respect from us white folk... That is a pretty important part of our history.

Also being the age of reform, Ford Motor Company was a big deal then Henry Ford was no saint, but he did appreciate his workers and treat them well. Womens sufferage also a HUGE deal then. Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood. We had Prohibition, and any number of famous mobsters/bootleggers. This is such a busy, and important era.. :0)

The Flatiron Building (or Fuller Building, as it was originally called). Wonderful monument, if nothing else.

The Washington Monument of course!

The Washington Monument was built between 1848 and 1884 as a tribute to George Washington's military leadership from 1775-1783 during the American Revolution. Its construction took place in two major phases, 1848-56, and 1876-84--a lack of funds, political turmoil, and uncertainty about the survival of the American Union caused the intermittent hiatus. Plans for a national monument began as early as 1783 when Congress proposed that an equestrian statue of George Washington be erected.

Plus its easy to put in the game

The Woolworth Building of NYC built in 1913 was the tallest structure to date at 57 stories

The Eiffel Tower of course! Built in 1889 for the World's Fair in Paris, the Eiffel Tower was built a light "modern" design intended to be taken down within a couple of decades. Quickly its usefulness as a radio tower came into play. While Parisians may have despised it, it symbolized to the West the beginnings of the modern era. Its has become the most visited paid monument of the whole world with over 7 million people going up it in 2011 alone.

The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower, also known as the Metropolitan Life Tower or Met Life Tower, and currently being converted into the New York Edition Hotel, is a landmark skyscraper located on Madison Avenue near the intersection with East 23rd Street, across from Madison Square Park in Manhattan, New York City. Designed by the architectural firm of Napoleon LeBrun & Sons and built by the Hedden Construction Company, the tower is modeled after the Campanile in Venice, Italy.[SUP][7][/SUP] It was constructed in 1909 and served as world headquarters of the company until 2005. It was the world's tallest building for three years, until 1913, when it was surpassed by the Woolworth Building.[SUP][8][/SUP]

The Eiffel Tower, symbol of Paris France built to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the French Revolution and one of the most recognizable buildings of the world.
