Guild Expeditions Contest!!

Is your guild the best? Of course!
Want a chance to prove it? You bet!

To help celebrate the Guild Expeditions feature, we are having a guild vs. guild contest. The basic idea is simple: the winner is the guild with the greatest participation in the expedition for the week. Prizes are goods for the guild treasury and a premium guild flag.


Time:
The contest will be for the expedition starting Tuesday June 28 and ending Monday July 4. Entries must be submitted on this thread by midnight (ET) on Wednesday, July 6.

Eligibility:
To participate in the contest, your guild must have at least 40 members at the start of the expedition.

Entering the contest:
To enter the contest, you must post in this thread with the following information:

1. The name of your guild, the world you play in, and the number of players in your guild at the start of the expedition.

2. A screenshot of the expedition points screen showing the number of players who participated. See an example (showing 51 participants) here:

Important: we need to see scores for at least three guild members who have participated in the expedition. Adjust the scroll bar on the screen to ensure that there are at least three non-zero scores.

3. The city age of the three players with the lowest non-zero scores. So in the example shown, mcbryguy is in High Middle Ages, Chrisbee30 is in Progressive Era, and LadyDread is in Colonial Age.

Criteria for Winning:

The winning guild will be the one with the highest participation rate, calculated as the number of members participating divided by the total number of members.

Ties seem likely, and will be broken as follows: For each guild in the tie, the progress of the lowest-scoring member will be determined by dividing their score by a normalizing factor for their age. This will give a measure of how far that player made it into the expedition. The winner will be the guild whose player progressed the furthest. The normalizing factors are posted below.

If this too results in a tie, we will make the same comparison for the second-lowest score, and then the third-lowest. If you're still tied after that, we'll split the prizes (but each guild will get the full diamond reward.)

Prizes:

The guild scoring first place will receive 5000 goods in their guild treasury (1000 of each type) in each of three ages of their choice (so 15000 goods total).

The guild scoring second place will receive 5000 goods in their guild treasury (1000 of each type) in each of two ages of their choice (10000 goods total).

The guild scoring third place will receive 5000 goods in their guild treasury (1000 of each type) in one age of their choice (5000 goods total).

In addition, a designated founder or leader of each winning guild will receive 200 diamonds, the amount required to purchase a premium guild flag! (How that person spends the diamonds is up to them, however.)

I think the contest will be more fun to enter if there is some suspense about who is winning. So I will be hiding the submission posts (with the screenshots). The posts are still there, not deleted, and I will list here the guilds that have entered so that you know your entry was accepted. All the posts will be revealed with the winners on Thursday morning!

How do you know what city age a player is by screen shot when submitting lowest 3 scores. Honor System? Thank you for your reply

Without a screenshot of the bottom of the list, how do you prove how many guild members you had at the start of GE? Is that honor system too? Is this yet another contest that will be scrapped a few days in?

One single post at the end of the expedition is sufficient. You can tell how many people were in the guild at the start of the expedition since that is the number of players in the GE scoreboard for the guild.

How do you know what city age a player is by screen shot when submitting lowest 3 scores. Honor System? Thank you for your reply

Basically honor system, but we can easily check the winners in-game. If you cheat your entry will be disqualified, so don't cheat :)

Sorry if feelings are still sore about the tax contest. I think this one should not have similar problems. As with the city ages, this is something we can easily check in-game for the winners. (Also, I think the winning guilds will have large participation rates so the screenshot will probably show the bottom anyway. Certainly you can tell if someone is blatantly cheating from the scrollbar position.)
