Introduction to the Higher Age Units Guide
Welcome to the Higher Age Units Guide! One of the common questions that appear on the forum from players is that of how to get higher era units. These units can give the player a huge advantage in PvP (both offense and defense), GE, and GBG, among other aspects of the game.
Note that these strategies can often be costly, especially if the player is planning on negotiating the Continent Map rather than fighting. Also, due to the long time it can take to scout sectors, be prepared to go slowly on the tech tree when trying to get higher era units. This strategy is generally more useful for campers rather than tech tree racers for this reason. Some story quests require technologies to be researched. If you don’t save enough techs, you could get blocked.
These higher-aged units can be obtained in generally one of two ways: Bonus and Story Quests. In the chart below, you can see which aged units you can receive based on the age of your city.
*It is possible to skip over sections of the story so that the tech block quests do not appear. However, this is more complicated than just going through the story quests, so it has its own distinct section in the guide.
Some abbreviations/terms will be used in this guide, which can be found in a list below. I will also respond to questions using the same abbreviations and terms to avoid possible confusion.
As one last note before the guide, be careful with these units. You can only get them once. If they die in battle and you forget to revive them with diamonds, there is no getting them back. Take every precaution not to lose them, as they can be a huge advantage. Use them wisely.
With all the introduction out of the way, this guide will be broken down into several parts, based on each age of units that the player can receive. The contents can be found below:
Part 1: Early Middle Age and Colonial Age Troops
Part 2: Industrial Age and Progressive Era Troops (in CA)
Part 3: Progressive Era to Postmodern Era Troops
Part 4: Oceanic Future Troops in Postmodern Era
Part 5: Tomorrow Era to Oceanic Future Troops
Part 6: Continent Map Tips & Tricks
Part 7: Author’s Notes
