I have a couple players that come and visit my town and put a "Star" on one of
my buildings.

I do visit them back and their towns are filled with stars.

How do you do the first visit to another town?

You can visit other ppl by clicking on their avatar and when you do that on the left side you can choose from two options:
Support and Polish,when you click on one of those the building that you can support8polish will have gray star on them anjust click on those buildings.
Support-you double the curent production of the building that you've supported.
Polish-you double happiness for 12 hours.
And when you visit player once,you can't support/polish his town for next 24 hours,and you can't attack him for next 24 hours.

You can also visit their town directly from the screen that notifies you of the boost they gave you. Just click "Visit".
