I am a little curious, how does Inno make the matchups for GBG? Is it based on like Guild size, level, and prestiege?

the basic match up is only by LP points. Far as i know guild size, level and prestige are not taken into consideration. There have been enough reports lately of some strange matchups (a lot of the same guilds staying together for multiple GBG seasons) that there would seem to be some other factor in play as the random chance idea seems to have hit some pretty low odds of it happening.

I think it would be helpful if you included Inno's response to the bug report: they said it is either not a bug or they will not fix it (at least according to the placement of this thread in the "Not A Bug/Will Not Fix" section: https://forum.us.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/exact-same-opponents-in-battlegrounds.41426/)

There has not been a response from Inno yet. At that time it was not considered a bug yet. Right now it has been forwarded to the devs, so we have to wait to see what will happen.

Not quite true. Guild matching is based on League points and in case of the same number of points on guild ID. This system is completely stupid and means that you are matched again and again with the same guilds and have no chance to meet other guilds even though they have the same number of league points.

I understand the ID portion is being dropped. and has been changed to the new (no ID use) in Beta this coming season

The internal number FoE assigns to each guild as they're created. The first guild created on a new world being 000001, to whatever it is now.
Which it seems may be irrelevant as of this morning. Early reports of new matchups indicate the ID has been removed from the algorithm.

This season on live servers has not been changed... Good news is they are working on it, check beta forum

Thanks, we have the same two majors this week as the last 2 seasons. Hopefully will change with the next update.
