I am a little curious, how does Inno make the matchups for GBG? Is it based on like Guild size, level, and prestiege?
It's based on League Points and nothing else. Same Guilds staying in the same slection for several seasons on has been reported to the devs as a possible bug.
I think it would be helpful if you included Inno's response to the bug report: they said it is either not a bug or they will not fix it (at least according to the placement of this thread in the "Not A Bug/Will Not Fix" section: https://forum.us.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/exact-same-opponents-in-battlegrounds.41426/)

There has not been a response from Inno yet. At that time it was not considered a bug yet. Right now it has been forwarded to the devs, so we have to wait to see what will happen.
Then it would be helpful to remove that thread from the list, assuming that the list is intended to prevent players from posting the same problems over and over again.

Not quite true. Guild matching is based on League points and in case of the same number of points on guild ID. This system is completely stupid and means that you are matched again and again with the same guilds and have no chance to meet other guilds even though they have the same number of league points.It's based on League Points and nothing else. The internal number FoE assigns to each guild as they're created. The first guild created on a new world being 000001, to whatever it is now.what is meant by "guild ID"?

Which it seems may be irrelevant as of this morning. Early reports of new matchups indicate the ID has been removed from the algorithm.
