Is +50% HUB life support worth the space?

I just moved to HUB and see that +50 colony life support is supposed to have chances to quadruple mine production. I also hear that it only works on the tiny mines.
So what ya'll think? I'd dislike wasting 10M coins and supplies if it's not.
