Lower Age Quests

I'm Progressive age. I've been getting things like build a EMA unit barracks, etc. Which I've been blowing off. But now I have a recruit some lower age units in a non abortable bonus quest. Is this normal? Any clever ways around it? I'm not overly anxious to delete a bldg giving me 40% a/d to do this.

Yes it ia 100% normal. You needed to do the Story Quests when in that age, and keep up . It seems you fell behind. There is not easy way to cheat the Quest demand. So you just have to do what it asks if you want to have the Story Quests advance.
There are a very few Quests that seem impossible once you get too far ahead. (those can get resolved once in Oceanic)
Most players try hard rto do the Quests to get those rewards.

However, in my opinion the Quests do not need to be done at all. There is nothing in them you must have.. And they can be ignored completely with no actual loss (other than a few Diamonds) The entire Quest thing is there to waste your time

With a high (100+) Chateau Frontenac , Sat gave a few thousand diamonds , after SAT it drops to about 1500 tops.

Check your buildings tab in the inventory. I have a number of buildings from older ages that take up 1x1 or 2x2 and give 1 or 2 units.

They were never good enough to use, but...

I don't think its an unreasonable ask to ask the devs that, if you're not in that era anymore, it moves on to the tasks for your current era. This is 2025, they can get an AI to do it.
