It's called a hash algorithm. Your password is converted to a hash by the app. Only the hash is stored.

Cryptology was never my thing, but they do offer an explanation on their website. I recall the breach a few years ago. All anyone had to do was change their master password and that was it. Their security check will even alert you to sites that have been compromised so you can update that password.

I'm not buying it. I'll stick with paper and pen. Zero chance of all my passwords getting hacked.

Lost, but not hacked. And there's always "forgot my password", which still leaves me more secure than an online password service.
