Well your precise number of buildings won't hold for every run as the goods you need are somewhat random. i.e. on 2 worlds right now i have one that needs like 500 fish and another that needs like 500 cannons. accordingly they have layouts optimized around having 4 or 5 of the good i need the most - and as their sizes are different it (along with what impediments i decided to live with) dictates what i need to use for filler. (sometimes it's cutters, sometimes it's hammocks because i don't have enough 3x3 spaces for houses and have some coins saved up for the time being).

The principles i've been following:

- initial diamond rush to unlock the minigame, immediately. Build 120 diplomacy and do the initial quests. Diamond-buying fish counts as 'gathering' for quest completion so you need that quest before you open the techs. Build 2 spice for initial expansions. Once spice expansions are down attempt to use minigame goods to unlock further expansions. While it's possible to hit gold without this diamond rush, it's more comfortable with it - and it's only like 175 diamonds/run.
- 1 hour credit productions whenever i can be around to do so. I don't think gold is terribly feasible without at least some periods of 1 hr production
- goods balanced around the next unlock up until at least cannons. Barracks may or may not be useful, and comes with an impediment removal if needed. But everything after that is just one big goods grind.

I would like a study on how often what dice occurs. It seems like I get the 5 goods (three pair) 90% of the time upon 3 rolls of the minigame.

Well first time playing this settlement and odds are the last, totally an unfun one to play, unless you want to spend diamonds!

I see no difference between the Pirate settlement and any of the others. But then I just plod through them as and when the mood takes me. Never rush anything to get it done and none of them have ever needed diamonds spent on them.

It generally takes me a little less than 6 months to completely finish a settlement by just picking away at it a little every day. I have no desire to spend diamonds on them at all and don't feel "the need for speed" either. I also happen to enjoy them (except for the stupid Mughal settlement).

This one looks really hard. From what I see right off, the settlement grid is hard to see. I also noticed that Expansions cost a bunch of goods in this settlement. Are any of you guys getting thru the questline in time for the Gold chest?

Borders do suck, but if you zoom in when placing stuff, it does help..
