Player who threatens other players with being reported for harassment and cyber bullying because they don't like PvP, but are playing a PvP game

Good day to all.

Wanted to put out to the players base on this server, just as a precautionary tale, and a warning if anyone else is dealing with this player. YES, I have done the 'in game report' on the player, but I firmly believe in 'do NOT ignore a problem, take care of the problem.' And this player is the problem.

Thanks to the basic mechanic of the way the game handles who will be on your 'attackable' cities list, this player happens to show up in my neighborhood repeatedly. I'm a speed thru the attacks, hit and go style player, I cycle thru multiple servers. But it seems they think that this isn't a PvP game, so back in December 12/2/24, after the first hit on their city, they send this message to me.

"Leave me and my buildings alone meaning never attack or steal from me again this will be the only time i ask."

I shrug, and move on with my day. A few times again, I attack their city, as the timing comes up, as I cycle thru the servers. Then on Saturday (the 4th of January 2025), I get this message:

"you have 1 or 2 choice's leave me alone or be charged with harassment and cyber bullying in real life. it's 1 thing to attack me but stealing was a very major nono. fiy these charges can get you at least 10 years behind bars."

NOW, being prior law enforcement, I don't take 'false accusation and threats' lightly. But I send a response that I felt was as gentle and kind as I could manage, to try to explain FoE the game to this person. My response was :

" {first time playing a video game that has PvP as part of it? I think this game may be...too much for you. Really. Its a basic mechanic of the game. There are numerous solutions to YOUR problem. Super easy one would be something as simple as 'Hey person who's playing the game, would you mind adding me to friends list, so you won't attack my city as part of the daily basic mechanics of the game?' NOT resorting to hollow threats is how a smart, rational peson would react. Take a few deep breaths, remember its a GAME. Go for a walk. Pet a fuzzy animal. Do SOMETHING, before you give yourself an ulcer over a VIDEO GAME. Be well.] "

Now, how will they respond? Will find out. But YES, I reported them using the in game reporting system, but I don't know what will come of that, if anything. I just wanted to make sure that this got down in text, before/ if anything starts coming of it. Because with a false accuser, you never know, but covering your bases is always a good idea.

Will I stop hitting their city with attacks? No. Absolutely not. It is a basic mechanic of the game. And I will NOT let a false accuser 'win.' You don't turn your back on someone making threats.

Players name in question: ace54853. (If anyone is offended I put their player name in this post, get over it. if they hadn't sent a message threatening me with false accusations, it wouldn't have reached this point.)

Thanks for reading, and game on, all you players out there who act like mature, smart people!

Sending an angry message to an attacker/plunderer has never, in my experience, worked out well. You are compounding the problem by engaging with this other player. Put the other player on "ignore". If their reaction concerns you then stop attacking them. Personally, I rarely attack the hood and never plunder (unless I'm trying to complete a task that specifically requires plundering). If a player sends me a nastygram after I attacked them then I will continue to attack them and snipe/flip their GBs in the hope that it will deter them from overreacting again.

I shrug, and move on with my day.
This is what you should have done after the second message, too. If you're former law enforcement, then you should know that there is zero possibility of any legal liability or criminal charges coming out of the in-game actions you describe.

Here's what my response would have been: "Good luck with that!"

Sounds like you both found the others trigger. You deserve each other.

This makes me feel so sad. (and a little jealous) Despite attacking my hood daily in my 3 cities. For all the years I have played this game (I never plunder any more, but do snipe anything that gives a profit) I no longer get the "love Letters" like those mentioned here. I used to get them all the time (as did every other member of the guilds I was in).
Frequent doubts about my parentage
Threats saying they knew where I was and they would be at my door in half an hour with a loaded shotgun.
Threats to stalk my family. kill them or my pets
What they would do to me when they did get their hands on me.
Get me banned from the game
Get me booted from my guild.
All in the most colorful language.

We all used to have a lot of fun comparing them. and thinking up suitable replies. But that is all gone now (slow sorrowful sigh) hardly any of todays players say a peep. Or they very politely request that you make a snipe up to 1.9. Where is the fun in that??? AAHH for the good old days!!!!

Tbh, I'm not a fan of the sniping or the thieving/plundering. I realize that it is part of the game though. But I never made threatening posts about it. I just learned how to protect my city. And as far as the sniping goes, I just lock down my GBs for the week and politely inform the sniper that they will lose all their double dips for the week. Then proceed to snipe them back. I find that most quit sniping me altogether. Some don't like to lose their double dips as I get nasty responses back from them about it. Others don't like to be sniped themselves, especially when they can't keep sniping me in return. I get nasty posts about that as well. But they quit sniping me hence forth. Then there are those snipers that don't care about losing their double dips or getting sniped in return. I've found that this is a small minority though. So I rarely get sniped anymore and never get plundered anymore.
I could care less about being attacked though as I have found sometimes it's the only way to complete a quest when GE and GBG are not running.

I know right ? We even reserved a thread on here for those love letters :) Before the Galata it used to be quite profitable. I make 11K FP , 21K goods , 217M coins and 91 m supplies / day and my city is plunderproof. Not much sense in even trying to plunder anymore. I kinda liked getting the letters of adoration.

This is where you should have just stopped.

You're former/retired law encforcement and you didn't know he was full of it? Really?? (Or that you should not have responded in any way?)

And this is definitely where you should have stopped!! Bad enough you brought the whole story to the forum but to call out another player by name? Not only against forum rules but just plain immature, imho.
Thanks for reading, and game on, all you players out there who act like mature, smart people!
A vast majority of players experience these things whether they're the writers or the recipients of the love letters. Even though I was in my mid-50's when I started playing this game, I was pretty upset when people spoiled all of my "hard work" and I sometimes had lots to say about it! It happens, whether people are mature or smart or not.

Frankly, based on your entire post I would have to say that you fall into the "not" category. Not really because you responded but because you are still mad and seem to be ready to respond -- again. Or something.

Inno's pretty clear on one issue if no other: you'll never find out what the result of their investigation is other than it occurred. But if you want them to take you seriously in the future, you might want to lay off of the threats of future action. I agree with @Dominator - X , y'all found each other and you really do deserve each other.
