Scaled Production Times

Why do production times reward babysitting and punish those that can only login twice a day. 5 minutes is a 100% reward. 15 minutes is a 23% reduction. 1 hour = 56% reduction. 4hrs = 81% reduction. 8hrs = 86% reduction, and finally 1d = 91% reduction. The reductions also vary by age and whether the building is premium or not.

Before this post get's too out of hand. A few have pointed out the benefits of having production doubled by chance motivation. I redid the calculation for motivational doubling and that does seem worth it. So get lots of friends that play more than once a day....

INNO wants you in game. Everything in this game is designed to take up time.

Practically speaking though, if the different times didn't scale production everyone would select 24 hours.

The reason? Motivation. When a player Aids you a building gets motivated or polished. those buildings get doubled production and are plunder proof.

But you're limited in the Aids you can receive. so if you go short productions some of them may be motivated, but you won't see a lot of benefit.

If you go 24 hour production a lot of them will be motivated doubling production.

Throw in the GB Lighthouse of Alexandria, which adds a bonus percentage to Supply production for the first 40 collections every 24 hours.

That's why the differing production times have differeing ratios.

Ace, this game does not punish anyone. It does reward players who are patient, learn how the game works, and plan accordingly.

LoA gives 40 collection boosts per 24 hours. Who do you think benefits more, the person running 5 minute productions or the one running 24 hour productions? A motivated production building doubles the output of a production. Production buildings are at the bottom of the motivation list. Who do you think is more likely to have their production buildings motivated, the person running 5 minute productions or the one running 24 hour productions?

Good to see you have taken a positive approach towards the game.

Nobody is being punished. Activity is being rewarded.

Even monkey's understand the reward / punishment nuances. Check the research. If you give one monkey a grape for pushing the button and the next monkey two grapes for pushing the button, it's not long before the first monkey is throwing feces at you. LOL I think I'm more like the first monkey.

Before complaining even monkey will notice and do what the other one is doing for extra rewards.

I guess it boils down to basic economics. It would be like asking, all things equal, why does employee 1 get 8 dollars for 8 hours while employee 2 gets 1 dollar for 1 hour? Motivation. The premise being, the more time you put in to the job the more money you receive in return. Translated to FOE: The more time you put in to the games functions the more you are rewarded (in this case) with supplies.

@Algona does motivation or anything affect goods for the longer durations? Noticing 4=5 and 8=10 but 24=20, and 48 hours =30 that's kind of funky math unless there is some hidden advantage to selecting the 2d option.

No. Goods buildings cannot be motivated. There is no advantage to producing them in durations longer than 8 hours other than convenience.

RSP nailed the answer..

Same reasoning for Goods as Production. If they were the same production per hour players would always choose the longer and INNO wants us in game.

The time of your life is the production you should choose. If it's the weekend and you're sitting around watching 24 hours of all of the LOTR movies then 5 minutes would be the best time to do. If you're a working man during the week and can only log in after work, then 24 hour production is the best to do. If you have the app and can log in when you wake up, then 8 hours would be the best. Just depends on your life circumstances.

If you CANT collect at least 3 times the lower time production, then it is higher profit to go with the longer time.
