What is your favorite and least favorite settlement and why.

I think Egyptians was hands down, my favorite settlement. I was able to win the gold chest every time and I enjoyed the fighting without attack/defense boosts. Playing with the raw army units makes you really have to choose and use your units wisely. In regular battles, you just throw heavys at them and overpower them with sheer Attack/Defense %% boosts. Not much skill involved.

The Mughal Empire was simply the worst. I can't really pick 1 single thing about it that I hated. I think I disliked every aspect of it, equally. I couldn't even make it thru level 1 without abandoning.

Edit: I likely would not have done so well in Egyptian had I not read thru a really good tutorial for it. I believe the tutorial was right here on the forums.
 
Egypt is the most fun....
Japan has the best music....
Vikings grows on You.... Like frostbite....
Refuse to do all the rest because I read the forums....
 
Japan is the easiest IMO since you can get the store opened to pile up lots of goods via Negotiations.

I also grind out Ascended kits for Japan and Vikings. That's enough for my purposes.
 
I can't counting all I didn't finish pirates and aztecs so I won't counting them

Vinings - good setlement no hard mechanic small main reward building (3x3)
Japan - market is good way how to get more goods
Egypt - bad settlement you need make coins for units for good for goods
Mughal - bad big buildings
Polynesia - good no roads
 
Egypt is the only one i kindof like.

Mughals and Vikings are the worst. Mughals because it's just slow. Vikings because the balancing for gold time is off since the change to 5 hr productions - requires a lot of fast-cycle productions to hit gold.

Aztecs and Polynesians aren't much better in terms of play - and have the worst reward buildings imo

Japan and Pirates are tolerable, if one must.
 
To me the settlements are just one more slog in the game. Easy to be ignored unless the mood takes you. None of them are worth getting excited about. I have Egypt going in one world and Pirates in another and also Mughuls. they have all been on the go for months and they may end up sitting there until the game finally shuts down.

I don't really like any of the settlements much since all they are these days is another time sink. Japanese is the easiest to play through though. I tried out the Pirate one and am probably never going to do another playthrough of that one. Sucks just about as bad as the Egyptian one imo and that is saying something!
 
I wrapped up Feudal Japan last night — definitely the easiest one so far. I started Aztecs today, and right from the start the requirements look a lot harder.
Does anyone have some pointers? Is the Gold chest obtainable?

I'm working thru the Pirate Settlement now and Aztec is the only other one I haven't done yet. Good luck and if you get any good pointers don't be shy about sharing. :)
 
Pirates is Japan slogging through mud so far. I dropped the Ygg and put it in inventory as better use of the space came along. That will leave just Japan as a Settlement to keep doing for Ascended kits, of which I already have several in hand.
 
What is the secret to the Aztec minigame. I just left out of there and got a total of 6 goods for all 3 attempts. The last one, I didn't win a single good. When I click a tile, it pops up as 1's all the way around it. Each one I did was the same, all 1's circling it. I must be extremely unlucky at this minigame. The funny thing is I'm ok at minesweeper. I'm not an expert at it but I can clear a board.

I start from a random corner and hope to clear some of the blank spaces.
