A couple of days ago I reached the point in Arctic Future where I could send off the explorer ship. The ship was not in tip-top condition but there seemed to be no way to fix that. I chose the first three sailors available and sent it off. When it returned there was a little more damage but also a popup window which allowed me to pay diamonds for repairs--which I did. That improved things a little, but still not a ship in perfect condition.
Question 1 Am I to assume the ship will never be perfect and just try to keep it in the best condition I can?
Question 2 Choosing the crew confused me. There are Promethian symbols by each person--do they indicate what that person costs or what they will increase the cargo by?
Question 3 How do I use the other symbols to make an intelligent choice?
Question 4 There is a two level list of possible sailors. If I hit exchange I get more choices but they seem to me to be worse--is that right? I note that it is impossible to go back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated by this dottering senior player
