Good Luck!!
Last night a friend rushed me out of the house to catch the opening act at a local bar's music night. After a few drinks I realized my phone wasn't in my pocket. I checked the table we were sitting at, the bar, the bathrooms, and after no luck I used my friend's phone to call mine. After two rings someone answered, gave out a low raspy giggle, and hung up. They didn't answer again. I eventually gave it up as a lost cause and headed home.I found my phone laying on my night stand, right where I left it.

A man is walking home alone late one foggy Halloween night, when behind him he hears:
Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.

Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him.
He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him. However, the casket crashes through his door, with the lid of the casket clapping.
clappity-BUMP...clappity-BUMP... clappity-BUMP...
on his heels, as the terrified man runs.

Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, he locks himself in. His heart is pounding; his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps.

With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door.
Bumping and clapping toward him.
The man screams and reaches for something, anything...

All he can find is a bottle of cough syrup! Desperate, he throws the cough syrup at the coffin ...

...and...of...course, ........ the coffin ........... stops!

Thomas was bright as a child. He picked things up quickly and adapted to anything that came his way. That was why he was able to handle the darkness. Nobody else seemed to see it. But whenever he closed his eyes, it would seep in. He wouldn’t notice until he opened

his eyes again, but when he did, his peripherals would be obscured by a sort of gray-black ring that encroached on his vision. Wearing glasses helped, but it was always there. It was also always accompanied by a sort of skittering noise. He wasn’t sure of

what it was, or if it was even real. But he began to notice that spiders kept still around him, as if watching him. Waiting to jump when he wasn’t looking. If this was about that time he ate one when he was six he was very sorry about that.

So Tom didn’t sleep. Not for very long, anyway. Two hours at the most, and then his alarm would ring to wake him up. And after twenty years he didn’t really need it anymore. By about an hour and a half the skittering got so loud it would wake him up anyway. So it was almost funny to him when he had his first child that he was able to sleep even less, waking up once every hour to feed the baby and making sure she was doing alright. Tom barely felt the difference at all. Until one day, he dozed off. He must have, because he didn’t remember laying down at all. A noise he had never heard before was sounding, but he recognized it instantly. His alarm, mixed with- the skittering! It was so loud, louder than ever before. He bolted up to reach for his phone, but he couldn’t move his arms. His arms! Did he even get up? He needed his glasses. He needed to see, but where were they? He couldn’t see them. He couldn’t see anything. taste of blood in the mouth....
the child remained oblivious to the sounds around him as he swam in the pond near the forests clearing as the sun went down forgetting gladly the failure of a hard days work of having to chase after a newborn lamb that had wandered off from its mother and the herd.
thrill of the chase....
feel the flesh tear on the tongue....
it had been exhausting, the chase. and he had not found anything but a few shreds of flesh beside a tiny pool of blood. there 'd be hell to pay when he got back home. both for getting lost and failing to protect and return the lamb which guaranteed continuance of the herd, it had been the only female this spring. he swam lazily from one end to the other and finally got out and headed back befor the sun could no longer guide him.
bones breaking.....
blood running...
so hot....
so sweet....
his mother was waiting in the door as he finally came up the lane, thankful he was home, but concerned she did not see the lamb, knowing before he spoke what had to have happened.
i'm sorry ma. the boy said, i tried to find it first but the wolves got to it before me.
thats alright son, she replied. next time try to keep your attention on the flock and out of the clouds.
i'll try, said the boy. wash up, dinners near ready son. she told him.
ok. the boy said and headed out to the well to fetch the wash water.
as he dipped the water out he saw his reflection in the mirror smooth surface and hastily wiped away the spot of blood from his cheek near the ear. the boy chuckled to himself, sounding more like a growl than a laugh and for a moment his eyes flashed a deep bright yellow as he remembered..........
scenting the air....
thrill of the chase......
teeth closing around the throat......
flesh ripping, blood running.....
the thrill of the hunt.

When I was a kid there was a rainy night, the house was dark, I was upstairs watching TV when out of the corner of my eye I saw the back of my mom going down the hall and into the bathroom. I didn't think much of it at the time but about 5 minutes later my mom came upstairs. I asked her if she had just been up there and she said she had been downstairs for a while. I still have the image to this day and cannot picture if the person had any feet. I don't think I stayed upstairs alone for a few years after that!

Being a teacher, and a male, I am often confronted by scary stuff. At one school I taught at, I had a young man who had been beaten by his parents until he was brain damaged. He became emancipated and lived alone and came to school. He was in the 11th grade. His best friend since he was 5, was a young girl his age also at the school. The school was very dangerous, riddled with gangs and drugs. The girl had recently gotten a new boyfriend who was in a very dangerous gang. He told the young man to stay away from his girlfriend. but he did not understand why. so one day while the school was at lunch - this was an inner city Charter School- the young man was talking to his friend. She did not know about the warning, until her new boyfriend walked up behind the young man and then swung at his throat with an old-style clipboard with a metal clip he had sharpened. The girl grabbed his arm so instead of cutting the young man's throat and killing him, he hit his head and shaved off half his scalp exposing the skull. We called an ambulance but they would not come without a police escort- very dangerous area- so myself and one vice principal put him in a car and while I held his head together, we rushed to the hospital and then I held his hand while they sewed his head back together taking almost 100 stitches.

The gangbanger was arrested but then his gang said if the young man ever returned to the school they would kill him because their boy was in jail. So we had to home school him. The girl and her family were forced to move because they blamed her too and threatened to kill her. Two years later the gangbanger got out of jail and did kill the young man and was shot and killed by the police when he decided to shoot it out with them.

May not have spooks and goblins, but considering it was 100% true, and I never did get the blood out of the clothes I had on, it was scary as hell to me. Teaching can be scary as hell.

Bree went outside after dark with her loyal dog to check on her mare, who was due to foal any day. It was a warm, quiet night. A dark night on a lonely gravel road far out in the country with the moon showing only a sliver to light the way. As she approached the paddock she could hear the horses stamping and moving restlessly. She started to scan the farmyard to see if there was a wild animal nearby that was stirring up the horses. But there was nothing in sight. The horses neighed and wickered to her when she reached the fence still clearly unsettled by something. She peered into the grove of trees on the other side of the paddock and suddenly a pair of large golden eyes appeared through the leaves, staring unblinking directly at her. Bree’s breath caught in her throat and her stomach clenched as she stared back. Her dog froze at her side, scenting something in the wind that he didn’t like. She held her breath, waiting to see if whatever belonged to those eyes would move. Scared to her toes, she stood there, too scared to move and too scared to stay. Then she heard a low growl. Whatever had held her mesmerized in place released and she ran to the house as fast as she could, her dog’s leash held tight in her hand. She heard rustling in the grove and ran faster, too frightened to look behind her. With relief she made it to the house and slammed and locked the door behind her. She grabbed her loaded shotgun from its place by the door and took up a defensive position but nothing came close to the house. Come morning, she scouted the grove and found large tracks that belonged to no animal she recognized. To this very day, she avoids the grove at night, not knowing what, or who, might be there again...stalking her.

In a land far far away -a mother kisses her malnourished child and bids him goodbye as he treks across the hostile sands of an unnamed land trying to make it to a better life. She then turns, her last tears threading down her face and resumes the task of trying to bring life to a desolate patch of desert..

Monsters are real...

The Legend of MorrGorr grows in the Neighborhoods. The frightened, feckless denizens take shelter behind their cities' shields. Imagine the horror, to wake one Monday morning, and aghast!, only to see that ghoulish, Bloodthirsty King, at the top of the heap. The rumors were true; as word of his exploits reached up and down, throughout Kingdom Korch.
He's coming! The hapless victims realise their plight! The Kings Armies never loose a good fight!! And the daily toils, will all be spoils, and the nightmare just repeats itself, day and night! Oh the Sight! And what can they do, the poor people below? They just do not know. He blazes through cities, with incredible speed, ignoring our pleadings, his terrible deeds. He vanquished our Best, we're barely a test; I wonder why, we even bother. It's 2 or 3 weeks, and he'll move on, someplace farther. Pillaging, and plundering, some other lost souls.

I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, "Daddy, check for monsters under my bed!" I look underneath, for his amusement, and i see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me, quivering, and whispering "Daddy, there's someone on my bed!"...
