Dear Community,

As you may have heard, a few days ago Adobe had announced that they will stop supporting their Flash technology at the end of 2020. The browser version of Forge of Empires bases on Flash and requires Flash to work, so – unsurprisingly – we have seen questions about the future of the game popping up in multiple places :). We would like to briefly address them.

First and most important: please don’t worry about that. We got it covered.

Flash has turned the Internet into a better, more pleasant, more colorful and interactive place. However, over time it’s been getting more and more obvious that it is not a technology of the future. Therefore, work on moving our game away from Flash commenced already quite some time ago and it’s now well underway.

We want Forge of Empires to grow and be playable for many years to come. That’s why we plan on releasing an HTML5-based version already in the first half of 2018 – long before the end of Flash. HTML5, while very different from Flash, will allow us to remove the Flash dependency. This will be a background change and it should not result in any required adjustments on your end. The game will still look the same, will run in browser and under the same URL.

In the meantime – please relax and keep forging! Forge of Empires is not going anywhere :).

Yours,
The Forge of Empires Team
