Yahooooo! I got a crow's nest upgrade with 1 spin. Yippie ! Now I have enough to level my CN to 2  And I have enough to level my villa to 6. I might be pulling my card out for this . . .

Bought the 41.5K Diamond pack, not for the Summer Event as much as for new GB's coming in. So what happened? When all the doubloons were spent, a second Gov with enough to get it one level below the top was had (the last level will be acquired at the end of the quest line), a Sentinel, about 100 FP's, several thousand supplies and coins, around 800 Medals and the biggest surprise was adding up all the Crow's Nest packages showed I had it finished! For gravy there were some other minor prizes that will be going to the AQ and a trio of Storage Boxes for use when I redo my city next month.

This looks like a $400 Diamond event if one wants to score big. At least the prizes were worth it and besides, I have all those Diamonds for the new GB's!

For bad news: Still only 2 doubloons have been found in the field.

My odds on the compass have also been ‘unlucky’, in that I’m finding a weird coincidence that is making me pretty ill tempered about this event. Every time I get a gold prize, I get 1’s on the compass. That’s odd. If I get nothing but crap wheel items, I get 3’s. Very odd. >.>

i only have two problems... the compass and some of the quest events .

i mean, what's the purpose of going through all that trouble of getting a doubloon only to move once ? and then ur supposed go back and do some extreme quest like 24 hr productions x10! only to get one doubloon as well. i feel like that's a problem and a waste of time .

other than that, i'm pretty chill with the event ^ ^

Is it just me, or does it seem you have to get lucky or spend diamonds to get a maxed Villa?

Expected Doubloons to receive during the Summer Event
Beginning of the Event-------------------------3
Doubloon

Daily Connections 22 x 1----------------------22

Completing Main Quests 34 x 1--------------34

Completing Daily Quests 20 x 1 + 1 x 2------22

Milestone Bonus 1 x 8 + 1 x 10---------------18
Doubloon
Doubloons
Total------------------------------------------ 99
Doubloon
Doubloons

Upgrades Needed: 8

Upgrades from quests: 2
Upgrades needed from grand prizes: 6
Maps needed to get 6 upgrades: 11
compasses needed to get 11 maps: 110
(assuming 2 average)

You get 99 compasses from the 99 doubloons, so that leaves you 11 short of getting the final upgrade.

So, you either have to get 11 doubloons from incidents, or average more than 2 moves from the compasses.
both require luck.
the only other option is spending diamonds.

What am I missing here?
Wait until you get over the 50 mark. When I finished Level 49, the game stated "Come back in 13 hours". I spent a day and a half collecting 356K of coins to get to 51, and now it says "come back in 6 hours" I need to move 19 spots to get the Level 8 Governor's Villa, but only b4 days and 9 hours to do it. I'm expected the little compass is going to hit that Number 1 spot more than Number 3 :>{

That’s always how it is. After quest 34, you only get one quest per day. The reason you are only encountering this now is that you only just caught up to the daily quests.

i think the compass is new ..... in the past you simply spun the wheel and got a prize and that was IT ...... INNO is adding the extra features to accommodate an event building that require upgrades. you can check the mechanics of the events in wikifandom ....the wheel was once a summer casino event of some kind and you had to finish off the event to get that specific event building . No one could complain about that unless they did not log in everyday like i did last year when crow's nest was offered . This year I got both event buildings BUT that was done using diamonds . If not , I would be struggling along for that final upgrade either by sailing or on the questline like everyone else . I forget what comes next .... Fall Event / Halloween ....maybe a mixture of both ???? keep forging to find out !
We had the compass last year. The year before that, the wheel just kicked out a random number of Map Pieces with each spin. One, two, or three of them. So really, no difference.

With the event nearly over, I can say that I will get the Villa on both my worlds without spending diamonds and without the coins from incidents. I have gotten 4 of them on each world but they won't be necessary for the final upgrade and I may be able to get the next prize, which is Sentinel outpost at least on my main.
The wheel turned out to be quite rewarding on my main, where I have managed a fully upgraded Crow's nest, a lvl 1 Villa and 4 Sentinel outposts with upgrades for all of them.
Not that lucky on my secondary world, though. Only two Wishing wells with shrink kits and a few medal packs, but it is an Iron age world with an inactive neighborhood where noone is refreshing the wheel for hours and hours.
Overall, a nice and rewarding event although I would have liked more WWs and shrinks for my farm.

Oh bugger! I knew it was too good to be true. I'm up to Quest 53 and I just saw the next two grand prizes on the Map. They're medals and a Gov Villa Lvl 1. I have to travel to where X marks the spot three times to receive the grand prize for the Villa upgrade, if it even shows up again. I think me compass is broken because I'm only travelin' 1 league on the Map, each time.

I was so hopin' to win all the upgrades but it's startin' to look like you need to spend diamonds. If that's the case, this is the last event fer me. It's too frustratin' to know you spent days on this event only to find out at the end you won't get the final upgrade.

You will win one more upgrade if you finish all quests. That should be enough.

In an event based as much on luck as this one was, it was inevitable that you were going to have times when you loved it, and times when you were cursing it, which is how it went for me. I bought diamonds from the first special package offer, and the last one, so as a result I was able to get multiple fully leveled Villas and Crow's Nest's, which are both great buildings, so I'm coming away from this event very happy in general with the substantial improvements in the look and production of my city, which is all you can really ask for from these events.

My primary complaint would be the all of the "junk rewards" on the wheel, especially when they were the top prize. I fully realize one persons junk can be another persons treasure, but I think the vast majority of players would agree that we could have seen a LOT less of things like the 10% supply and coin boosts, tiki totems, trees. etc. Even though I've been periodically selling it off to the AD whenever I think about it, it'll probably still take me a month to empty out all the garbage from my storage that I'll never even be remotely interested in using. I think a lot of the ill will from this issue could have been solved by simply cutting the things like the store building, guard posts, 10% boosts, etc. in half, and replacing them with universally popular things. Everybody expects a dog reward here and there, but it really seemed over the top at times in this event, especially when you see things like the guard post come up as the top prize on the wheel three times in five refreshes
Just as an example, replace half of the things like the guard posts and store buildings with renovation and one up kits. Replace half of the 10% boosts with 5 FP's or 10 goods. Things like the sunken treasure (or whatever it was called) and a couple of other similar items should never be the 'top' prize in any setting.

simple fix: discipline yourself, and only spin the wheel when you have a chance to get a prize you consider good. Let your neighbors get the junk.
for example, in the Archaeology event, if you were seeking the Worlds Fair, wouldn't it make most sense to only use your tools when the worlds Fair was a prize option? why waste your tools on the store building item? this seems obvious to everyone in an event where there are Daily specials, but people seemed to miss it here.

And btw, sunken treasure is generally considered a good building. If there were no CN or sentinel outpost, I would have targeted sunken treasures.

The wheel is garbage compared to other events where you can pick the probabilities of getting some rewards even better (Think of players in Football or Soccer cup or lily ponds in Spring event). Also, the incidents only giving 1 Doubloon once in a blue moon really skews the event. Think of other events where you got 5.10,50 of event currency once or twice a day. That smooths over the randomness. There should have been 5 Doubloons per spin, and a multiplying of Doubloons by 5 for everything. Then they could have had the incidents like other events. The special event building is great, which makes the event even more horrible because of the randomness.
