Summer Event 2018 Feedback

i've been playing this event at my leisure and find just getting to quest 43 just too time consuming unless you turn over the supply timers with diamonds etc etc....ditto Sloppyjoe above comments.
Preparation is the key really, especially for alts. What I want to do for my alts is burn through the quests as quickly as possible until it hits the timed quests. In order to do that you have to prepare a few main things, assuming the alt city is already running smoothly with a friends tavern, coins, supplies, goods etc., then you'll want to prepare a bank of FP's, enough production buildings, typically blacksmiths, and have the quest list.

I like to have at least a couple hundred FP's in the bank before a big event starts so you have to spend the weeks/months prior to an event building up fp's, which is easy to go through the top of the hood and just donate daily to those leveling GB's. This will help not only burning through the first phase of the quests quickly but the latter part of the timed quests which are all Spend FP's that increase so you won't have to sign in more than once a day. Of course depending on what age one is in will determine how much fp's one would want to have ready, most of my alts are in IA so the demand is not as much.

If you don't play on Beta to get the quests yourself then the fan wiki does a good job of getting the quests listed before the events go live. So what I do before an event starts and after acquiring the quest list is highlight all the production tasks. Then I build as many blacksmiths as I can and set the productions accordingly, mainly for the 4, 8 and 24 hour ones of course. This of course works even better for the timed quests because you'll always be ahead of the game and the productions will just be there waiting for the quest instead of the other way around.

After that it's all mainly just general advice that can apply to any event really, like don't collect Traz when you know a quest will come up asking for units, don't aid or sit in taverns or collect tavern silver just before the event starts, don't burn through GE in one day as you can use it to complete quests asking for units, coins etc., make sure you have lots of goods for trading, blah blah blah stuff like that lol.

Here's some data I gathered on the gold rewards that came up for me on refreshing the wheel. 500 spins, across 20+ cities. Seems to average out over the long term to about 70% combined chance for a selection kit to show up and approximately 5% for each of the other rewards.

Interesting. Though I'm pretty sure I've seen Reno kits come up on the gold too, which kind of makes the 1 up a bit weak for a gold prize IMO.

I think if the chances for the kits to come up were 50% and a 50% for the other buildings, it would have been better. I managed to pick up at least 7 kits on my main city, and they are kind of underwhelming. But then, so are just about all of the other prizes; the SoK , WW, and ST are good, but I don't use multiproducers or WWs in my main, and I have 7 extra SoKs so even these things aren't really that attractive to me. On my WW farm, I spent most of my stash trying to get a WW when one finally came up only to fail, which did not please me at all.

I don't think Reno is on there though I suppose it can be easily mixed up, it's not listed in the fan wiki under the wheel prize section either so I'm thinking it's only available as a grand prize. I've been doing surprisingly well on my alts for WW, currently averaging 4.2 per city, including the one as a grand prize, 3.2 per city without it. Lowest I got is 2 and highest is 10 so far.

Not sure what I'll do with them, but the pirate kits have been extremely easy to come by.

I decided to go against the grain and get the Trader Ship to go with my 2 ST on my 2nd city.

I wonder how many traders ships there are compared to royal and pirate.

See for yourself Icarus BAD BUILDING at its worst ; especially for events:

and this is a farm world .... and i see an incident down there on the left corner.....

I think this aught to help with those NASTY complete 15 of your current age supply quests ... NO ?
So much underutilized space. *Wretches* And get rid of those decorations.

Alright, so I decided to help you out a bit by using the city planner and making an efficient city based on the constraints that you had. I removed all of the even decorations as those are useless, along with the well of welcomes, because those were outdated. I kept the Soccer shops, but you can easily replace those with gunsmiths. You really should get rid of a lot of those event buildings if I were you, but I decided to keep them in case you still wanted them in your city.

Just finished the Summer event 2018 in both my cites, and I really enjoyed it. I thought then entire "pirate" motif was fantastic----and it was really clever how they replaced the popular "Casino Wheel" from previous summer events with the "Pirate Ship's Wheel". You get the same excitement (or frustration) spinning the ship's wheel. I LOVED the special ships as the grand prizes, most especially that we were allowed a choice of Pirate/Royal/Trader ships! It was really satisfying how the designers made the ships really worth the space/resources/effort to get them. They offer a plethora of really good rewards and will be well worth keeping in my cities. But what was really terrific was just how good the ships look in my cities! The ships are just beautiful, very elaborate and beautifully colored and designed. What I especially liked is that they made it possible to get at least one special ship without the need to buy diamonds. This was excellent, because it let everyone enjoy the event. After getting my Pirate Ship, I splurged on diamond packages to let me get a Royal ship as well, and I love them both. They look fabulous together. I enjoyed the entire pirate motif, as well as the special buildings that were designed to accent the Grand Prize ships. The prizes on the wheel were pretty standard, the only thing is that I wish more avatars had been offered on the wheel as prizes, particularly avatars that were available in previous special events. I would love to get some of the avatars that come from the older events. And I wish they had offered more "pirate" themed avatars for this event. All together, I thought the Pirate event was a success and I really enjoyed it.

Have reached the Avatar in main worlds ....doubtful if I make it my 3 farm worlds

Got close to 60 doubloons in my mains with ~3 days to go .... something to do on my overnight shift during down time.

I thought about this and went to post a couple times and rewrote it but at the end it all comes down to this question:

If you can't make it through all the quests in even one world why are you running so many? As I've said before I'm a relatively new player but I find the quests to be fairly trivial. You mention main "worlds" plus three "farms". If time to play is your issue maybe fewer worlds would be better?

DeletedUser35712

I need the excess land to build barracks i dont need or supply buildings or housing ..... yes that is a farm world .....one i dont necessarily need to visit everyday....and yet there's the doubloons ready to be utilized
You're playing INNO new version of FoE whilst I remain true to the original game from 2012/3.....
Then you can destroy the gunsmiths and put up whatever barracks you want. Underutilized space is still underutilized space at the end of the day, and you have to fill it up with something.

@AyeMatey

That's not what I was saying, at all. Mobile players can't manually stop it when they want.

You said that you had a system where if the prize you wanted was next to the arrow, you would get it every time with your hitting the stop button.

All I meant was, before you click spin, you can just mess around with the wheel and move it where you want. You don't win prizes that way, because you haven't spent a doubloon to spin it.

So, you personally, could line up the wheel where the prize is next to the arrow, and then spend the doubloon to spin. Then, you personally, can hit the stop button and win the prize you want (because you said you win the prize right next to the arrow).

That's all. Now, really, it doesn't matter. Prizes are predetermined at the moment of the spin button click, and the stop button is meaningless

At the end of this event on my main world I got 10 SOKs, 4 Sunken treasures, about 10 upgrade kits (mostly from refreshing and winning), a royal ship and a lvl 6 ship. Overall not a bad haul at all!

On my alt world I got 9 wishing wells, 1 Sunken treasure, 2 SOKs and a trader ship. Not bad there either!

Probably one of my favorite events so far!
