Town Hall Hospital tab.

I am very new, so dumb as a rock by definition. I literally just crawled out of the stone age so be nice.

Does the forum have a search feature?

I can't find anything about the Town Hall tab marked hospital, where I have 95 dead bodies with an offer to heal each one for 45 diamonds, or all of them for 4275 diamonds, For $50 I could have an instant army of stone age fighters, plus a few Iron age?

Can someone say something about how this feature isn't just a moneyed shortcut to an army? Which, I guess is fine if I still had Mom's credit card, lol.

Well, it should be called the Dr Frankenstein's Lab, reviving dead units. I would not spend diamonds there at all. Just be patient, you can make units, many ways. There are military buildings, many event reward buildings that give units and an Alcatraz Great Building are some ways to do it. The list is long and don't worry, there are many places to spend diamonds, just not at the hospital. Maybe they call it hospital bcs the cost resembles an actual hospital bill...lol

There are special units players are able to win in certain ages by fighting ahead of their age on the continent map. These units are not replaceable by normal means in the age that they are acquired. If they die you usually intend to diamond-revive them.

Prior to the hospital, if you missed the revive button you had to submit a support ticket. Tie up support resources. Wait for a response. And generally they'd revive it for you (possibly free if it's the first time(or few times), but usually at a cost of the diamonds you missed the chance to spend to revive them). The hospital removes that process, lets you get them back immediately, and frees up support from a bunch of tickets.

If you are not using those irreplaceable units, just ignore the tab :)

Until this thread showed up I had forgotten about the Hospital feature. Mostly because it's no use to me. I never get higher age units, and there are tons of ways to get current era units without even having specific military barracks, so I never need to use Diamonds to revive dead (or undead) units.

From a players aspect I never understood spending diamonds to revive units (higher age or not) for the minimal combat bonus they give. To me it's like taking diamonds out of your left pocket and putting them in your right pocket and calling it a profit. To each and his own I guess.

I suppose I am kinda fond of my troops in this game and do not like to see them die. When they get injured protecting my Empire, then I do all I can to help them by using the Replace All function. I might even go as far as paying for some medical treatment for one or two in a dire emergency. But if they get killed, I will mourn their passing and move on. I would not spend my money to raise what would be Zombies. They belong it a different game all together.

Turturrets in Industrial Age are far more than "minimal" combat bonuses (~4-5 times the attack and defense, much higher range, oh and mortar). They also don't die very often unless you're really pushing things. So when they do, you bring them back :)

The way the battle mechanics in foe encourage a cannon fodder type approach to combat always bothered me. To me it is indicative of a game provider that hasn't given much thought into the tactical aspect of "military conquest" type gaming and perhaps their civilian understanding of military actions. As a veteran it is an aspect of foe I never cared much for.

However, with the full knowledge that this is a game and you play the hand your dealt it's hard to get anywhere in GBG without a large compliment of troops that one should be prepared to lose and replace with frequency. Paying out diamonds (as a representation of real money) to revive troops is just not in the cards for me. I'll stick to my collections and conservation of resources to fulfill my militaristic goals.

I hear you. Never appreciated the effort that goes into collecting and keeping higher age troops in a lower age. It just seems like such a waste of time and diamonds for anyone that is eventually going to age up.

I do benefit from higher age troops myself but get them via the Eco Sanctum that recently became available to players. In the main they give a significant boost to the number of times I have to replace troops in GBG while racing. I'm also able to pretty much whack anyone in my PVP and neighborhood at will.

It is a different style of play for sure. And I agree if you're planning to move on at any reasonable pace it's a lot of work for a short-term gain.

But it is a fun diversion to see how strong a steampunk industrial fighter you can make in a side world :)

And a nice solution for a diamond mine that wants to fight some as it requires very minimal boost (and therefore space not used on wells) to autobattle GE4/5.

ok, found the hospital tab in the town hall, but how do you use this to be able to finish research and move on in the game? I have no intention of using diamonds to heal troops, there are easier and cheaper ways.

The hospital tab and research tree have nothing to do with each other to my knowledge. Are you referring to moving through the cMap (Campaign Map aka Continent Map) where you'd fight progressively higher era units unless you level up your own era along with your progression? If so, you will hit a stopping point when your low(er) era units will not be able to fight these more powerful units. There are a lot of threads on this forum addressing tips/tricks on how to get pretty far and some guides you can find elsewhere online, such as YouTube (I'd check out UberHelp's Guide to Guides, it's pretty comprehensive and good starting place if he doesn't also have a guide on this specific issue).

Biology and Aristocracy research tabs both require "hospital:....there is no explaination for what "hospital" it requires. You cannot add a hospital, you cannot create a hospital...so are you saying I am at a dead end until I level up my era and then "hospital" will magically appear?

To further clarify what @Sharmon the Impaler correctly stated, Hospitals is one of the last two techs in High Middle Ages. You can't open (or even donate to) the techs Biology and Aristochracy until you've researched/unlocked Hospitals. Notice that Hospitals is listed under "Required Technologies". (I didn't even realize that pop up window was there because I'd never clicked on a technology icon/avatar/whatever you call the picture. Mainly because all the info you need is clearly evident without doing that.)
