What I found funny was that Obama was so close to Mitt Romney. Guess he isn't the radical left-wing socialist that Republican presidential candidates put him out to be :p

I don't think I agree with that about obama and Romney. The democratic party would NEVER allow that.

The presentation of Obama's numbers likely are counting his compromises as part of political ideology, which is not correct. That's almost like saying Gandhi quit fasting because he got everything he wanted.

sheesh. I wound up disagreeing or strongly disagreeing with the majority of the questions. Which started to annoy me. But what really did me in was reading this one: "First-generation immigrants can never be fully integrated within their new country." I want to know who even considers that as a valid question, let alone agrees with it.

Well, I cannot say that the test was the easiest to work through, plenty of twisted questions.
Economic Left/Right: 4.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.54

No surprises here:

A few questionable questions...

"People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce." I wasn't aware people even felt this way still. Ugh.

"Those who are able to work, and refuse the opportunity, should not expect society's support." Technically I agree, but... people actually think this happens? Oh who am I kidding. The whole preposterous idea that poverty is the result of laziness is so embarrassingly common.

"When you are troubled, it's better not to think about it, but to keep busy with more cheerful things." What does this have to do with political views? It's a standard cognitive therapy tip.

"You cannot be moral without being religious." "It is important that my child's school instills religious values." Are authoritarianism and atheism mutually exclusive?

Sadly they do exist, and many of them are younger people. And no I can't offer statistics, I am speaking from watching the kids at our local high school, who get pregnant and then go on welfare, then spend all their money on tats, and gauging, and then cry poor but won't get a job. Not all, but I can say I know about 28 of them...a HIGH number for High School Seniors.

I don't hold teenagers accountable for their behavior to nearly the same degree as adults. Adolescents are biologically predisposed to making outrageously stupid decisions due to the way the brain develops. And the human brain is not really mature until early to mid twenties, females a little sooner than males. So they don't count in my book, but their bad decisions now will screw them over down the road. So even when they're older and might have their heads screwed on right, they've lost opportunities they might have had otherwise: they have mouths to feed, might not have a high school diploma, can't afford college or get a scholarship, can't even work full time on the off chance they can find a job in this economy...

Speaking of getting a job, they really shouldn't have to support themselves in high school anyway, as they should be focusing on school and are children besides. If they do, they likely come from a poor family. Poverty is a perfect example of a vicious cycle, really.

While not as rampant as some might think, this actually does exist.
