It sucked cause I already had 1150diamonds invested. Had to invest another 500. Ended up with 2 extra kits. I had 229 final. If I wouldn't have spent those last 500 I wouldve been bumped by one. If its down to the last day, and you dont have a ten pt lead your prob not going to make it. Where they have made diamonds so much easier in ge 4, I dont think its unreasonable to have to spend a few hundred per event. I prob couldve got the full kit with 300 extra. From there standpoint it makes sense to reward paying players. If everything was easy and free no one would spend and game would die.
