Why did you start playing FoE?

Ah, I remember it well. Thanksgiving weekend (11/25/2017), I was playing mobile app Adventure Capitalist, which I’d been playing for a little over a week at that point. It was just another dumb free2play game that I already knew I’d get over pretty soon, At one point, I tried to get some premium currency for it doing random surveys and stuff. One thing it asked me to do was get to the Iron Age in FoE in a week.

I’m not entirely sure what grabbed me, but I pretty much immediately stopped playing AC and have been playing FoE since. The game was a puzzle and wasn’t one that was going to require lots of money just to get anywhere. I joined a pretty terrible guild at first: the leaders were nonexistent, GE never opened level 2. Someone sent a message, I don’t even remember what it was about, but then he turned to recruit me for the guild he was in. Said “if you want to start winning, come over here”. The rest is history.

This game is similar to
Caesar II game I play back in the 90s

I played C1, C2, C3. I thought the whole series was killer, especially Zeus: Master of Olympus. and Emperor: Rise of The Middle Kingdom.

Meanwhile on topic:

Was looking for a MMORG city Builder after a previous one wnet under. INNO advertised on CFB and I clicked.

Google Play Store suggested it a couple of times when I was downloading apps. I gave in and installed it after seeing it has high ratings, plus the graphics looked nice.

Kept seeing advertisements on tv and on my computer, I looked it up and saw how it worked and was hooked from the getgo because it was so similar to the old Simcity games but in its own way it's better.

I'm in between MMORPGs on my PC.

About to give WoW Classic a tumble, but really waiting on Camelot Unchained. Aside from the original EQ, I think my time playing DAoC was the most fun I've had playing an online game.

My 6th grade History told us it was a fun game and she was so good. (Later found out that good is 10 battles in BA with under 4k points and no gbs)
I need to have a chat with your 6th grade history teacher.

Was playing SimCity and saw an ad for this game, around 2017 (I think, perhaps maybe even in 2016). Switched back and forth many times, but settled on FoE and have been playing since. I had a lot of fun learning new things.

I used to play the CD game Medieval Total War and when it stopped working on the newer versions of Windows I was looking for something similar. There were a couple of other CD games that I really liked playing, like Railroad Tycoon and Panzer General, but again they quit working with the newer versions of Windows.

Seeing stuff likes this makes me realize that Forge of Empires truly deserves its spot as the most successful game from InnoGames GmbH.
Very true. I hadn’t even heard of them until I started playing FoE.

This made me sad. I used to play a lot of the command and conquer series back in the day but the obsolescence of older games on newer PCs made it near impossible to play or enjoy. I think this was a good replacement though

I was majorly addicted to a PC game called Don’t Starve, which is still in my opinion the best game ever. I wanted something I could play on my tablet and that could give me a quick hit of fun without sucking me into a 6 hour session. I liked the city building aspect and the graphics, but it took me a few tries to really get into FoE.

Ha! FoE doesn't even come close to Impressions' old city builder games. I only have Pharaoh and the full version of Zeus, but played the demos for C3 and Emperor. Those were pretty good, and I'd like to play the full version of Emperor some day. I even a did a few user scenarios for Zeus, but never got around to finishing Pharaoh, some of the later missions could be a real pain.

I first picked up FoE on Google Play back at the beginning of 2016 because it looked like it could be similar to those old games. It was enjoyable enough, but I got tired of playing it after several weeks and dropped it a little after the 2016 Valentine's Day event. I came back on the browser version during the 2016 Fall event.

I started last summer. My favorite star wars game died, and all that followed its place was a star wars casino designed by EA.
I tried a ton of games but the "real" aspect of this game hooked the history loving side of me. I planned to make a bunch of different cities in different ages
Ironically i now only have 3 cities and really only play 1, but i play it the gb style- hardly accurate with an arc in lma lol. Still going strong. Few games manage to keep me interested for a long period without taking breaks.

Thanks for reminding me of Don't Starve! I played it about three years ago and really enjoyed it. I think I'll buy it for my PS now.
