They're are worth so little because you have a chance to score big. ex. Diamonds, FPS, Goods, Medals, and small boosts.

most of the other stuff is always fixed every day some incidents are random

Well, aside from the time you have to spend to look for the Incidents, they're basically Free Stuff. And who doesn't like Free Stuff?

The amount is in addition to whatever you produce. It's just there for a bit of fun and will scale up with age. If you don't find it worth it then don't worry about it except during events (because event currency is usually included)

I guess I'm a cheapskate. Except during events, I save collecting them until I'm doing coins or supplies RQs -- they come in handy to complete one when I'm just shy a couple hundred or so.
