Attacking A/D balance

Acknowledging that it depends on so much that there's no single answer, how do others decide whether to add to their attackers' attacking or defensive boost, or their desired ratio/difference for the two? I've found that it is now easier for me, outside of paying a lot in the AD, to add defensive boost for attackers. As a result, I'm now at 535/578 (in contemporary era). I think I probably need to focus on adding attack boost, but I'm not sure what to aim for.

someone else would say as long as you can fight all the way through GE you are fine but they are outdated answer especially in CE, GE is cake
