Box on Avatars

On the friend/neighbor/guild sets on the bottom of the page, everyone has a little box on the top left of their Avatar and I was wondering what it was for. I try clicking it but it just takes me to their City.

Not sure but I guess it was used in the past to see who was online or not, green online, gray offline.

It is not used and has not been used for anything. Might be the devs have plans for it, but until we see it being used for something we can assume it's a lovely pin holding the avatar so it doesn't fall down.

Cute way of describing it! Thank you. I wish it had a purpose like that of which Lutek said, it would be helpful.
