conquered sectors

i just conquered a sector- can i get some advice with what to do next

You need to set as many defending armies as possible. Each DA has to be defeated 10 times, so if you set full 8 DAs then that means an enemy guild would have to win 80 battles before they can conquer your sector - giving you a good bit of time to be able to notice the siege and break it, if you're watching.

After that, the next step is to take more sectors. :)

Yeah, but is he talking about GvG or the Continent Map? How can you answer a question with absolutely no details?
