Each guild has something known as the guild treasury, where individual players can contribute goods and medals for use by the guild. These goods/medals are required to unlock levels 2-4 of the Guild Expeditions, construct buildings in Guild Battlegrounds, or perform various actions in Guild vs. Guild. Once goods are paid into the treasury, they can only be used for this purpose and can not be taken out of the treasury to, say, complete trades or pay a player. Also, since none of the aforementioned methods that the treasury can be used for require Bronze Age goods, it is impossible to contribute Bronze Age goods to the treasury.

To add, some Great Buildings automatically donate Goods to the Guild Treasury.
