Are units in GBG based on the player's current age or the age in which the battleground started?

Do the PVE unit assortments in GBG always match the player's age or are they set at the age at which the player started the battleground?

For example, if the battleground starts on Thursday and the player is Iron Age, then obviously they will face Iron Age units. So, imagine that on Saturday, two days later, the player ages up to EMA. Will their attacks in battlegrounds face EMA units or Iron Age units? What about GE?

GBG encounters are for the players age at the beginning of the season. So if you aged up on Thursday morning, you would get to fight previous aged troops all season. Same applies to GE. It is recommended to age up on a Thursday, since then you sill get to do previous age GE and GBG.

That is correct. Just did it myself. Aged up last Thursday right after gbg starts, and after most of the soccer event quests are done. Get to do one week of ge of previous age opponents, and is still fighting previous age opponents in gbg.
