Bug, or ads "Finally" coming to PC?

Had this gem pop up today
My tavern's boost section still auto completes, no ad incidents in my city (yet), refreshing made the 'watch a video ad' quest auto-complete as it usually does on PC.

Ready for another round of people quitting the game if this is happening... I'm definitely going to think about it. So insulting with everything we've given to Inno over the years for them to go after loyal players.. mobile is absolutely wrecked from the ads.

Oh, good grief. I play on the browser version and I've not seen this disaster yet. (For a moment, I actually thought this thread was a joke. I feel a sense of impending doom falling upon my shoulders). Ridiculous. I've lost over 2 dozen friends I've had for years who've quit the game because they can't play on browser and the mobile ad-blast was their final straw.

This is just crazy!!!

I've been seeing that quest pop up for about 2 months. It's erratic and it disappears fast. When it appeared I didn't get the special "gather 1 coin" quest (which is probably a placeholder for the "watch a video ad" quest). Looks like this is inevitable but, if the PC ads are limited to the quest drop down menu they will be easy to ignore.

I'm a mobile only player. I've had ads for a long time. Really, what bothers me most is that I can't auto aid without watching 3 ads, one for hood, guild and friends. It is faster in my view to aid from the town hall, where I simply aid eveyone who aids me than to watch 3 ads, since I have people who aid me from all 3 sources. I can visit the tavern at the same time. To me ignoring the incident ads, is easy. Im a little bitter cause you can't miss them, where the incidents I want to collect are sometimes very hard to see. The ad on the town hall is the most annoying one. The one in the guests is very easy to ignore but I have found it useful if it gave something I needed for a quest. I watch very few ads, none daily. If they gave something I didn't have an abundance of, I would probably watch more. But, the rewards are very poor. Maybe to a new player they would be helpful. You know, if they even gave me one fragment to a golden villa upgrade, I would probably start watching all I could find, and begging for more. They might even change my view on fragments.

OH Chit!!! We have almost stopped watching TV because of the endless Ads on it that ruin the programs. . I do not like the mobile version of this game anyway. The Ads were the final thing that decided me not to entertain it. So I play the game on my PC. It is one of my pleasures. I play it is escapism from RL pressures. Including the depressing all pervading commercialism around me. But I have other hobbies I can turn to if I find the game becomes any more mundane and unappealing.

Not to mention, ad-free Netflix costs less than the ad remover FOE subscription

this is the note I sent to Inno a while back:

Hello,
this is not for the Mods or even the Devs but rather toward the Direction and Management team.

I certainly am no-one within your world, spending my career in the medical professions. Non the less, as a long time active consumer of Forge of Empires, I feel I must voice my concern over the direction the game appears to be on now.

This last change to GE has really been obviously destructive in the community - no, not the perceived difficulty or the change in bonuses but rather the rewards.

Eliminating diamonds and buildings (replaced with fragments). but wait a minute this is just the current complaint out of a constant stream, right?

No, the accumulation of changes has become crystal clear, lets take a count:

1. The introduction of fragments of rewards (long time ago)
2. The introduction of watching ads (then removed)
3. The introduction of ongoing monthly charges (forge plus)
4. the introduction of pay for event rewards ($15 event pass)
5. the dilution of event prize (max level is now for purchase to obtain)
6. the reintroduction of ads
7. the upcoming dilution of the paid event pass to several different levels of cost

I am only pointing out the obvious things and briefly; mind you

But on the reverse side of all this degradation-of-prize and continuous harassments for payment, what else do we see?

Content has become dubious, repetitive, and non-exciting. all the space ages, since the first, are literally copy and pastes with different graphics. the last great building of any real importance was Space Carrier and that is questionable. The community has been begging for fixes and changes to guild versus guild for literally a decade with little to no effort in response. gBg was a good idea the first year but has since totally broken the game as a means for players to perversely and extremely boost their player score with little effort. anyway, you get the point.

Thus now that the stage is set, my question is then - what encouragement do players actually get now to continue in the game, given this decline in content and increase in harassments?

I will give you an example - I used to go to McDonalds becuase the cheap cost of their food was a fair price for the convience of their low quality. Now McDonalds has doubled the price of there same low quality food - why would I pay $5 for a $2 1/8th pound cheeseburger? makes no logical sense for a consumer and, as such, look at McDonalds now - just announced the largest layoff in their corperate history...

You have a long dedicated group of core players; we are adults, we are professionals, many of us are high net-worth and thus, have rewarded FoE with millions in revenue over the years -- and as such, we are intelligent enough to know when a good thing is ending and their is no value left.

Please don't end the game like this

no verbal reply is necessary, we will get our answer by seeing your actions - I hope it will work out for all parties thats why I write...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its a sad shame to see such disregard for your customer base but I guess nothing lasts forever...

Thought I would copy and past this from the EN server - as it pretty much sums up what is painfully obvious (in a smart*ss, condescending, rude way I might add)

More fps and goods, great. Diamond rewards reduced by over half. Buildings that we could get as whole buildings now awarded as fragments, in illogically named sets. And, let’s not forget, those are buildings that are by far surpassed already by what the events have been offering for years. An improved Sky Watch? Really?
So you do not like the changes. Fine. Fact is that not all rewards have been nerfed, but I can understand that claiming all have been nerfed gives you a much better argument. And it is not just fp's and goods. Extra turns as well.

It actually hasn’t been made clear, all we hear is it will not be changed.
You missed this?

https://forum.en.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/guild-battlegrounds.37671/

But it is still part of the game, it is definitely what determines rank since guild level and the 1000 league point factor make negligible difference for any guild in top 50. By contrast, all other things being equal, Gvg propels you to top 10 with a couple of days’ effort or higher if you maintain it. Since this is the case, but the problems with it are not addressed, what does that do for general satisfaction with your game experience?
And it is still not the single most important determining factor for guild rank, but I can see how that suits your argument better. You really like to exaggerate things to make your point. My Guild is in the top 50 and we do not participate in GvG at all. Furthermore is does not do diddly for general satisfaction with my game experience. I do not care about ranking at all and I am not the only one.

So the fact that nothing happens about it means it should not be raised again?
It means that raising it again and again does not mean that changes will happen faster because of that. The suggestion for an aid all button has been forwarded somewhere around 2013/2014. After that it has been raised multiple times. Changes in this game take time. Just because it does not happen right away, does not mean the devs do not know our wishes.

All I can hope for is that the next era brings some new interest for all those who are saying they will leave or have gone into coasting mode.
That argument has been used so often that it can hardly be taken serious anymore. If you go by the premise that the devs do not just have a meeting tomorrow to decide what the next era will be, but that they plan far ahead, the next era is not likely to be much different.

Really gives ya that warm fuzzy feeling of being heard and cared for; makes ya want to spend $$$ and continue playing, doesn't it...

Good on that forum mod for actually having some teeth. Anyway, my enjoyment of the game depends mostly on how I'm feeling at the time, and partly on what's available in the game to interact with. How a moderator chooses to respond to comments on the forum has absolutely no impact on whether I enjoy the game or not, although I do get a kick out of reading posts that strike down annoying whiners.

I have noticed more players seem to no be playing as much from Friends not playing. Not a lot, but more than usual.
