[Question] Grey Square On Upper Left Portion Of Portraits

Just curious I was noticing that on my guild and neighborhood profile pictures in the top left corner of the portrait is a Grey Square almost looks like a check box can't figure out what its for does it have a use, meaning, or purpose?

It's the answer to the meaning of life. :p

I would assume it was to be used to display who is online or not, but that's just an assumption. It was definitely for something the developers were planning but then decided not to go with or simply not to do back then but at a later point (which would explain why they're still present but without use).

Ah I see so there is no use for it yet.
Would be cool to have a check box for plundering being able to mark cities you need to go back to but I guess we will find out if it gets used.

I think it should turn blue if they are online or be checked off or something.
