With all the programming changes being made in an attemp[t to force players to by diamonds, I would think that INNO could at least upgrade their servers to stop the lag.

Lag can be very complicated. There are a lot of 'not Inno owned' bit of equipment between you and the Inno servers.
Any one of which can be causing your lag. If you have lag all the time that is 100% your equipment or your devices connection provider. I had bad lag a few years ago and I blamed Onno but I found out it was my modem as the cause.
Everyone wants to blame Inno for all of it. They are only responsible for maybe times when they are updating your server, and start of GBG season. It is clear the lag at start of GbG season is due to Inno lack of bandwidth.
