I became a fan of the NBA as a young man back in the mid-1970s and ceased to be a fan sometime in the late 2000s when players pretty much completely forgot how to play the game and referees pretty much completely forgot how to call the game. Players travel or palm the ball on more than 90% of possessions. That's bad enough but they won't learn not to do that because the referees won't call anything. If a player can toss up a three or dunk it, they have zero idea what to do with the ball; the art of the mid-range jump shot is over. There are too many teams and not enough truly talented players to fill the roster spots: players at the end of the bench have always been of borderline talent, but, whereas in the past it might be one or two players, 5 or more on many of these teams today would have a hard time in a decent semi-pro league. The game has become nothing more than an embarrassment.
