Your guild uses them in the "all ages" GvG map instead of goods.

It is not advisable to donate them unless you've bought all your medal expansions already, which is highly unlikely in your case, Blue.

That's only the name Inno gave it. Though any age troops can be used there, it's really only the 'Future and above' map.

It wasn't. They added it with the patch that added Arctic Future.

I donated medals to my guilds treasury, and found out that it doesn't drop points on you the way a goods donation does, is this going to change?

The first couple of weeks in beta, medals did give ranking points. I think it was 1 point for 2 medals, or something similar. Then there was an announcement from Inno: they felt the medal donation points unbalanced the rankings (some players donated millions of medals), that medals would no longer give points when donated, and they took the ranking points back from those that had donated (oh, there was a bit of an uproar.)
