I would say the information in that link is old, as every image I have posted here is hosted on this site. I just drag and drop the image from the folder to the message window that I'm editing. The only caveat is that the file size is limited, so JPG generally works better than PNG.

Upload limit is 1mb file size for copy paste
If it’s not working either trim the image or reduce the size
