pvp battle scores

I have a question that i cant find an answer to. Is there ways to boost your scoring in battles for the PvP tournaments. I have noticed that in some of them the people i am up against from my neighborhood have vastly higher scores yet have had same number of battles. Am I missing something?

By keeping your city enthusiastic helps (120% more points), also pvp is not just the hood, people fighting champion candy in the GvG map can get massively more points than you do in the same number of fights, GE fights also including in the pvp towers where you see ahead what you are fighting and get the right units to fight with, some encounters has lots of points than hood fight where you get less points because you don't see what you will be fighting and suffer loss hence less points.
