Renovation kits and Event sets

If you use a renovation or level up kits on an event set, like the harvest barn one, do you have to level up each piece or will leveling up one level them up seperately?

The renovation kit will only upgrade the building you click on. It will not upgrade an entire set of buildings to your current era. (edit)
You will need multiple renovation/oneup kits for a set.

Set pieces need to be levelled up seperately. Some go automatically to the next level and some are not worth levelling up.
